I didn't need Jim's hint. And don't call me Shirley.

I just watched Gervais' "Special Correspondents" and thought of another movie that had a similar notion.... "Wag the Dog"

Is that it?

No and No. Really, Ray - no machine guns at Gettysburg! You should have paid attention in school, young man! (Tanks... yeah they had those; Stuarts but not Shermans or Grants)

I already gave the hugest hint possible (along with the first quote). But here's another

Ian Finch: That's funny, I'm playing a game called Rebel Coup. Eleanor thinks it's childish, a grown man playing games. [sighs]

Ian Finch: I should've paid her more attention. But then would I have achieved such a high score? Who knows? [Shrugs]

I just looked it up, and I know why I haven't seen it...

It's a "grown-up" movie that came out recently...(Most of the movies I've seen in theaters for the past few years tend to be either animated kiddie fare, sci fi, fantasy, or super hero flicks...)

But it looks like it's on Netflix, so I may check it out...

If you don't mind Meade, since nobody seems to be getting it, I'm going to add a couple of non film-quote clues:

1.The movie has some similarity to Wag the Dog...

2. "If you’re four times better than you used to be, and you’re still not the best, your tag line should be, ‘Not as rubbish as we were.’”

I'll admit I never saw it, but the character name gave it to me (from the reviews). Doesn't sound like a movie I'd like, which is why I skipped it.

And Meade did give a huge hint.

Here's another hint (as if LJ's Wag the Dog didn't send people back to check)

Ricky Gervais is in it.

Ricky Gervais is in it.
People were supposed to be able to figure that out from this:
"If you’re four times better than you used to be, and you’re still not the best, your tag line should be, ‘Not as rubbish as we were.’”
But that may have been too subtle...

I Googled the quote; never heard of this movie, which was apparently released just this year?

It might be time to cough up the answer and move on . . .

By the way, the quote LJ posted shows up as from a cell phone provider commercial with Ricky Gervais. So not sure it helps? :shrug

If people concentrate on the clues, they should be able to get it.

And I'll add to one of your clues--As for it being a "grown up" movie--it is as grown up as a movie starring Gervais (who was in the Night at the Museum films) can be--don't think it's too highbrow. This is not Citizen Kane.

BSG--I'd rather give the people a little more time with Meade's clues--the answer is staring right at them.

You're right: I haven't seen it, or even heard of it, but with the clues given I realized that Meade had already told us the answer.
