Tim Burton's "The Nightmare Before Christmas".

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

I'm off to work right now, but I'll post the next quote after I get back home and before I turn the clocks back tonight.

I was 11-12 when I first watched it - dozens of times on cable for however many months it ran. It's an utterly perfect film, I believe. Thanks for reminding me of it because I haven't watched it in many years and I need to again.

BSG has it. I'm surprised she got it so quickly; it's not one of the more significant quotes from the film.

Like I said, I've seen it several dozen times and know it by heart. As I recall, that line comes about after Dave goes to serenade the college girl he's hot for and Cyril gets beaten up by some frat boys - he says that line when Mike (a dreamy young Dennis Quaid) is trying to get him to tell who the guys were who beat him up.
I don't usually get movies here by followup hints, I either know it because I've seen it enough times to have a memory of it, or I don't. Most of the movies I've gotten here are ones I've seen dozens of times; we moved from beautiful temperate coastal Massachusetts to the shithole Arizona when I was 9 years old, at which time I went from playing outside 90% of the time all spring/summer/fall to being stuck inside due to desert heat and watching cable tv all the time. My brother and I both loved Breaking Away and watched it literally dozens of times over and over again, the way kids do.
Believe me now? Because I don't want to take a turn if you think I'm a cheat.

Arizona is beautiful in its own way, and I'd happily visit in wintertime. But for a girl who grew up playing on the beach at Chatham and in the fields and woods around her ancestral small-town family farm, the scorching desert and all the endless pavement/shopping malls were a painful shock to the system. The only places in Arizona I ever felt somewhat at home were on visits to Oak Creek Canyon and Flagstaff.
Anyhoo, keeping with the theme of Breaking Away (that's a hinty-hint
), here is my quote:

Not for a split-second was I calling you a cheat or insinuating that you Googled it. It's just that it was a throw-away line and not one likely to stick with most people, so I kind of expected at least one or two misses before someone hit it.BoSoxGal wrote:Because I don't want to take a turn if you think I'm a cheat.

Re: Name That Movie!
1) I do think I know which one this is (especially with BSG's little hint).
1a) I'm reasonably sure it isn't Quigley Down Under.
2) Since I posted the one before this I'm ineligible.
3) I will, however, kibitz as appropriate!

Yup, another great cycling movie - and one I watched several dozen times back in the days when they only had 10 movies on cable every month.

Change of pace:
Look, we're gonna spend half the night driving around the Hills looking for this one party and you're going to say it sucks and we're all gonna leave and then we're gonna go look for this other party. But all the parties and all the bars, they all suck. I spend half the night talking to some girl who's looking around the room to see if there's somebody else who's more important she should be talking to. And it's like I'm supposed to be all happy 'cause she's wearing a backpack, you know?
