Why do new emails in my Gmail account show up in my "Gmail Notifier" before they show up in my Gmail account?

So, this week in my junk mail (snail mail, not email) I got a catalog of wedding invitations. I thought maybe it was intended for my neighbor, who shares an address (just differentiated by an A or a B), but no, it was addressed to me by name. I think I would know if I had upcoming nuptials, and I don't belong to a society where arranged blind marriages are common. So it makes me wonder how the promotions department at Wedding Paper Divas came to the conclusion that I was in their target demographic.

And no, I have not been surfing brides.com or any online dating services.

I spent all day today outside. I froze my ass off, had the heat cranked for the 45 minute ride home despite wearing a thick hoodie and thermal underwear (I usually drive with the heat on low and my jacket open), and wore said hoodie in my 68 degree house for 3 hours. Wow, it was COLD today!

On the plus side, I manage to not make a total fool of myself backing up a semi, and while I was so damn cold I'm not sure, I think I have the air brake check mostly down.

Went to the AA speaker exchange at 6am on saturday morning. Outside in a parking lot on the top of a hill. I think I got frostbite on my fingers. Pens didn't work and stickers wouldn't stick. But we filled up our calender for speakers at our meetings for the next three months.

They are planning to move this online soon. Not soon enough.
