Incompetence everywhere you look

Post by ex-khobar Andy »

Quite apart from the Trumpish actions and thoughts (and yes, i am well aware that this is a little like: "Apart from that, Mrs Kennedy, what did you think of Dallas?') his sheer fucking incompetence is beyond parody. And his new Director of Communications appears to misunderstand the rudiments of communication. (Link to NYT; partially reproduced below.)

Apparently Politco published details of his financial disclosure, and Scaramucci interpreted this as a leak. This despite the fact that such disclosures are public information of a sort and can be requested by anyone. In his original tweet he appeared to blame Reince Priebus. He was then forced to issue a second tweet which supposedly clarified the first.

If you are Director of Communications, and you issue a statement which is (a) a lie and (b) requires further clarification, then you clearly are not very good at your job. Which, I am beginning to think, may be all part of Trump's grand plan. Wishful thinking on my part of course: but at least if he had some sort of coherent plan then we would understand how to combat it.
Mr. Scaramucci responded angrily. “In light of the leak of my financial disclosure info which is a felony,” he wrote on Twitter, “I will be contacting @FBI and the @TheJusticeDept.”

He added the hashtag #swamp, reflecting President Trump’s promise to drain the swamp, and then included the Twitter handle of Reince Priebus, the White House chief of staff, who opposed Mr. Scaramucci’s appointment last week.

The serrated-edge response was similar to something his new boss might do, but it rippled through the White House, with several staff members expressing astonishment at the public outburst. Given Mr. Scaramucci’s tough language about leakers, and his decision to push out one assistant press secretary, his tweet added to a sense of foreboding that has taken hold in the White House.

Some fellow administration officials interpreted Mr. Scaramucci’s use of Mr. Priebus’s handle on the tweet as a sign that he was blaming the chief of staff. “Wrong!” Mr. Scaramucci said in a second tweet posted at 12:47 a.m. after he deleted the first one. “Tweet was public notice to leakers that all Sr Adm officials are helping to end illegal leaks.”

I agree with the above observations. In that I am unanimous, even if I have not changed my hair color.

How Many Dumbfuck Things Can Anthony Scaramucci Say Before Breakfast?

it’s better to keep your mouth covered, Scaramucci, to keep the dumb shit from falling out.

A White House fight has broken out in the last 12 hours, and it is between nominal White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and brand new Trump lapdog Anthony Scaramucci. (Who may or may not be a Clinton mole. He said Trump wants healthcare to be just like Comcast. And he said several things you’ll read in this post that will make you go “HMMMMMMMM!” and “LOL THE FUCK?” We report, you decide if he is a Clinton mole or if he’s just that dumb.)

Wow Sue. I watched that whole clip (CNN posted on Wonkette) - and it is astonishing. It used to be that they said the right things ('My job is to serve the American people') and you had to read between the lines to see the mendacity and obfuscation. Now it's all sent in the clear as it were and it really takes only a few digits of a normal IQ to see it. How can people believe this stuff? I'll say one thing for Sean Spicer - he was a terrible liar and you could tell that he had his fingers metaphorically crossed behind the lectern there. But Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Anthony Scaramucci actually believe the shit that comes out of their own mouths. I think it's called coprophilia.

Sad but true.

I can say Trump is the worst POTUS in my lifetime which extends back to Harry Truman.

The only bright spot I see, is his eventual impeachment which can't come soon enough.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

No wonder Trump likes this guy...

The Mooch is every bit as nuts as he is:
“I Want to F*cking Kill All the Leakers”: Scaramucci Explodes in Unhinged Late-Night Rant

The White House communications director goes on the record.

by Bess Levin

July 27, 2017 5:45 pm

Earlier on Thursday, newly installed White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci called into CNN’s New Day to chat with Chris Cuomo about the state of the White House, in an interview that left people mildly worried about the Mooch’s mental state. “The fish stinks from the head,” he told host Cuomo, conspiratorially, warning that the West Wing was full of leakers and pointing the finger at Chief of Staff Reince Priebus. “When I put out a tweet and I put Reince’s name in the tweet, [journalists] are all making the assumption that it’s him because journalists know who the leakers are.

So if Reince wants to explain that he is not a leaker—let him do that.” Scaramucci tried to walk back a tweet he had posted, and then deleted, the night before, in which he claimed, incorrectly, that the publication of his financial disclosure form was a felony and that he would be contacting the F.B.I. and the Justice Department. But the rest of the interview suggested that the Mooch was still out for blood: “Some brothers are like Cain and Abel,” he said, apparently describing his relationship with Priebus. “One-hundred-fifty years ago people would have been hung for these leaks.”

All of which looks positively staid in comparison to the stunningly unhinged, expletive-filled, on-the-record interview Scaramucci gave Wednesday night to The New Yorker’s Ryan Lizza, who proceeded to publish their exchange online Thursday afternoon. The quotes speak for themselves:

On eliminating leakers from the White House: “What I want to do is I want to f*cking kill all the leakers and I want to get the president’s agenda on track so we can succeed for the American people.”

On Reince Priebus, who Scaramucci said “c*ck-blocked” him for six months: “Reince is a f*cking paranoid schizophrenic, a paranoiac.”

On why he’s better than Steve Bannon: “I’m not Steve Bannon, I’m not trying to suck my own c*ck. I’m not trying to build my own brand off the fcking strength of the president. I’m here to serve the country.” (Both Bannon nor Priebus declined to comment when contacted by The New Yorker.)

On all the proof he’s got: “O.K., the Mooch showed up a week ago,” he said, referring to himself in the third person. “This is going to get cleaned up very shortly, O.K.? Because I nailed these guys. I’ve got digital fingerprints on everything they’ve done through the F.B.I. and the f*cking Department of Justice.”

On the felonies his colleagues have committed: “Well, the felony, they’re gonna get prosecuted, probably, for the felony. The lie detector starts—” (the Mooch changed the subject from there).

On a social-media strategy focused on making people crazy: “Yeah, let me go, though, because I’ve gotta start tweeting some sh*t to make this guy crazy.” (Scaramucci proceeded to tweet, “In light of the leak of my financial disclosure info which is a felony. I will be contacting the @FBI and the @JusticeDepartment #swamp @Reince45.”)

According to Lizza, Scaramucci began their conversation by demanding the New Yorker reporter reveal his sources on a story about who was invited to a White House dinner with the president that evening, telling Lizza, “You’re an American citizen, this is a major catastrophe for the American country. So I’m asking you as an American patriot to give me a sense of who leaked it.” (The Mooch later claimed that he was just kidding, “one Italian to another.”)

For those of you wondering if Lizza revealed this conversation without the Mooch’s permission, he notes that, “Scaramucci, who initiated the call, did not ask for the conversation to be off the record or on background.”

And this guy is supposed to be the "Communications Director"... :loon :loon :loon

While I'm sure being the oafish, bullying, vulgarian that he is, Trump probably loves this interview, one thing he absolutely doesn't love is a subordinate who starts attracting major media coverage...(as he sees that as detracting from his own...)

In Trump's world there's only room for one Mad King, and for that reason I really have to wonder how long The Mooch will be around...

Wow ! ! ! Now we know. It is a major catastrophe for the country if the public knows that the new Communications Director and POTUS and Sean Hannity had an evening meal together. What would he call it if POTUS mislaid the football?

I would not have thought it possible for Trump to do anything that could possibly drive the morale of his West Wing staff any lower, (and low morale of course, is one of the prime driving forces for leaks) but by bringing in The Mooch, it looks like he's found a way to do it...

Wow. I read the New Yorker report (my last free article this month) and it is a shocker. This guy is in charge of communications! In line with Scott Pruitt at EPA and Betsy De Vos at Education.

ETA: the Guardian had a great article on Scaramucci. I did love this comment from one 'gerold' -
Putin, Erdogan, Assad, Duterte, Kim, Trump. Turds of a feather.

I shall steal that and claim it as my own.

I made a mistake in trusting in a reporter. It won't happen again.
5:50 PM - 27 Jul 2017
Let me see if I have this right. The WH Communications Director phones a New Yorker reporter and unloads on his colleagues. Priebus, Bannon etc. Apparently Bannon is a autofellatioist. That's an image I could do without. Anyway said reporter obligingly publishes the WH Communications Director's statements. It seems that this was not the desired outcome.

I'm with Spicer on this one.

Some people ease into a new role by getting to know their colleagues and familiarizing themselves with the company break room. Others, like new White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci, arrive on their first day hellbent on alienating themselves by taking someone's parking spot and stealing every yogurt labeled "DO NOT EAT."

Scaramucci, or "the Mooch" as he sometimes refers to himself, has been in the White House for less than a week, and he's already causing chaos. The confident 53-year-old Trump loyalist (well, as recently as June 2016) kicked off his Wall Street career at Goldman Sachs where he worked for over a decade before starting his own asset management firm, SkyBridge Capital, in 2005. During his first press appearance in his new role, Scaramucci made it clear that as a businessman, he knows how to take and deal punches like the best of them.

But an article published today by Ryan Lizza at The New Yorker indicates that despite all his on-camera smooth-talking, in reality he's overly aggressive. The story, if you haven't read it, is worth consuming in full, as it details a seemingly polished man coming apart at the seams.

To quickly summarize, Lizza tweeted about a a dinner President Donald Trump was hosting at the White House alongside the First Lady with guests including Fox talking head Sean Hannity, Fox News executive Bill Shine, and Scaramucci. Apparently, that dinner was supposed to be more of an on-the-down-low event, because Mooch called Lizza that evening and proceeded to flip out, accusing White House staff members of leaking to the press.

Throughout their conversation, Scaramucci used explicit language, threatened to fire and/or kill everyone on the White House communications team, made outrageous claims about White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon and White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, and implied he had intelligence information that not even the president knew existed.

Below are 10 of the most mind-boggling quotes from that interview, ranked from least to most upsetting.

10. "The swamp will not defeat him. They're trying to resist me, but it's not going to work. I've done nothing wrong on my financial disclosures, so they're going to have to go fuck themselves."

First of all, yes, Scaramucci referred to himself in the third person. Secondly, he doesn't understand that he is the epitome of the "swamp," which Trump touted on the campaign trail as being mainstream politicians, lobbyists, and anyone he feels doesn't make government "honest." Scaramucci is Wall Street. He's also spent tens of thousands funding politicians (some who are opposed to Trump). To claim that he's a man who genuinely has the interest of the average American family at heart isn't exactly genuine.

9. "Yeah, let me go, though, because I've gotta start tweeting some shit to make this guy crazy."

Scaramucci spewed the above gem at the end of his phone call with Lizza, and "this guy" seemed to be a reference to Priebus. Following the call, Mooch tweeted out, then deleted, "In light of the leak of my financial info which is a felony, I will be contacting @FBI and the @TheJustice Dept #swamp @Reince45." He later said he only tagged Priebus because he wanted him to join his fight against leaks.

It's great to see that Melania's anti-bullying campaign is working so well.

8. "Well, he doesn't know the extent of all that, he knows about some of that, but he'll know the rest of it first thing in the morning when I see him."

This quote was in reference to information he claimed he had on leakers that the president did not yet know about. It's ridiculous to think that a White House communications director would tell a journalist about sensitive information before telling the Commander-in-Chief, but here we are.

7. "O.K., the Mooch showed up a week ago. This is going to get cleaned up very shortly, O.K.? Because I nailed these guys. I've got digital fingerprints on everything they've done through the F.B.I. and the fucking Department of Justice."

Two things here: 1. He really loves referring to himself in the third person; and, 2. We don't even know if he has his security clearance yet and he's claiming that the FBI and DOJ have given him sensitive information.

6. "You're an American citizen, this is a major catastrophe for the American country. So I'm asking you as an American patriot to give me a sense of who leaked it."

Scaramucci used the above lines to try to get Lizza to give up the source who told him about the dinner. People who respect the First Amendment and the freedom of the press don't bully journalists into giving up sources.

5. "O.K. I'm going to fire every one of them, and then you haven't protected anybody, so the entire place will be fired over the next two weeks."

Scaramucci then threatened to fire the White House communications team, and pin it on Lizza, because Lizza wouldn't give up his source.

4. "'Oh, Bill Shine is coming in. Let me leak the fucking thing and see if I can cock-block these people the way I cock-blocked Scaramucci for six months."

The above was Scaramucci imitating Priebus, who he seems to feel prevented him from getting a role in the White House sooner. Incredibly mature.

3. "Reince is a fucking paranoid schizophrenic, a paranoiac."

This comment was spurred by Scaramucci's belief that Priebus leaked information about the dinner because he wasn't invited. In this instance, it would appear that Mooch is the paranoid one.

2. "I'm not Steve Bannon, I'm not trying to suck my own cock. I'm not trying to build my own brand off the fucking strength of the President. I'm here to serve the country."

Um, okay? This was Scaramucci's way of trying to convince Lizza that he doesn't care about attention from the media.

1. "What I want to do is I want to fucking kill all the leakers and I want to get the President’s agenda on track so we can succeed for the American people."

Yes, Scaramucci told a reporter on the record that he wanted to "fucking kill all the leakers." As in murder. And he's communicating on behalf of the president.

Yes I wondered if that last remark of Scaramucci ('I want to fucking kill all the leakers') was enough to get the Secret Service's attention. Do they care only about threats to the President or does their remit extend to the WH staff?

Edited to correct a typo. I had 'leaders' instead of 'leakers.' Freud's fault.

“I Want to F*cking Kill All the Leakers”

That seems to me to be a threat against the POTUS. But remember, this is from a guy who thinks it is a felony to disclose a public document entitled "Disclosure" Gives me a whole new option of Harvard Law School.

Yes - don't you remember the meeting with the Russians when he divulged a nugget of information gleaned fom the Israelis?

In other news I see that Newt Gingrich has called Scaramucchi 'divisive' and 'full of himself.' You have to admit that when Newtie starts calling you those sort of names, you've pretty much hit the jackpot.
