No, Ray. (I'm still one "NO" ahead, right?)

No, Meade.

Yes, BSG, it was.

Yes, Joe, you can, but no you may not, but since you already did...no. And no.

Broken CP, does it not show up for you?

I'm happy to defer to Ray for the next clue.

Sorry, it showed up for me when I posted it, but I guess for no one else.

It doesn't show up for me either, but when you go into quote mode and look up the link and click on it:

http://www.impawards.com/1984/posters/dune_ver1_xlg.jpg

It goes to Dune as the answer...

So I guess we'll need a ruling from the judges (or in this case, judge) to determine who qualifies as first posting the correct answer... 8-)

Good one Ray; I have an idea, but I have to think about it for a little while to be certain.

Yeah, Ray got it this time—since Big RR's image didn't show up and he didn't type the title in his post. I think Big RR, Gwenhwyfar (sp.?), and I must have been the only ones who actually liked the David Lynch/Dino De Laurentiis theatrical movie version (though I've never seen the SciFi TV version [I probably really should, sometime], so I didn't get involved in that discussion back on the old CSB). Good quote, Ray; I'll just relax and return to spectating now.

Random guess based on beauty parlor-themed movies: Steel Magnolias?

"Hairspray"?

Econo--yes, I really do enjoy David Lynch movies (and the original Twin Peaks episodes he directed, less the more recent ones) and in Dune he made a very interesting movie, althoughquite different from the book (at least the way I recall it). IMHO, it's kind of like The Shining (the Kubrick movie, not the later TV one), the less you try to tie it to the original book, the better it becomes.

Dales, maybe you should try a more educated guess.

You also must remember that he sued to take his name off the movie precisely because it was made into something he didn't want.

"She only come in....." A definite Englishism, surely? More specifically, the east end. Of Liverpool that is....

Must be Eliza Doolittle.... "My Hair Lady"

CP, I don't recall a lawsuit, but I do recall seeing an interview with Lynch and Herbert after the film came out where Herbert said he liked parts of it. Did he succeed in getting his name removed?

A lot of critics hated the film, but seriously, after Lynch's Eraserhead and the complexity of Herbert's book, were they expecting another Star Wars? Personally, I like both the book and the film, albeit for different reasons.

Meade--My Hair Lady  . More like shaving a pyg---malion.

Re the 1984 Dune film...

It drags in places, but I have to admit that overall, I also liked the movie...

As for the current flick, I have absolutely no idea...
