For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

' Nightrunners of Bengal' is a great novel. When I first saw the title I assumed that it described the consequences of too much Indian food. Very moving.

Did you ever notice...
shoelaces rarely break anymore. I just replaced a seven year old pair of athletic shoes and the laces look almost new.

This is where someone would make a smart–aleck remark about how something that doesn't get used for its intended purpose doesn't wear out —RayThom wrote:Did you ever notice...

but I'm not going to be the person who does it....

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

What's with the expression, "meteoric rise"... ?
As in, " So-and-so had a 'meteoric rise' from well-deserved obscurity to over-rated pop star"...
From the perspective of anyone dwelling on the planet Earth, (which I assume includes most of us; though based on posts I've seen over the years, not necessarily all of us...) meteors do not "rise"...
If they can be seen from our perspective, at best they whiz past us...
At worst, they plummet into our atmosphere and create a Mass Extinction Event...

Yep, you got me, BB. I lace up those comfortable athletic shoes and then hop on my Jazzy 600 ES power chair and roll on down to the senior's center where I make colorful macaroni "jewelry."Bicycle Bill wrote:This is where someone would make a smart–aleck remark about how something that doesn't get used for its intended purpose doesn't wear out — but I'm not going to be the person who does it...RayThom wrote:... shoelaces rarely break anymore. Regardless, I was talking about the laces which get tied and untied throughout the day and not the shoe.
What a sweet ride...

THEN AND NOW —
1998 —
● Be careful who you talk to on the internet.
● Don't get into a stranger's car.
● Don't take candy or accept gifts or favors from someone you don't know.
NOW —
● You use the internet to summon a perfect stranger...
● And willingly get into their car...
● Because they promise to give you a ride somewhere.
(........and on top of that, you pay them for it!)

I often wonder: Do you think it's true that the Dairy Queen couldn't have children because she was married to Mr. Softee?

No, it's because they never had intercourse, only oral sex — since she was such a Tastee Freeze.RayThom wrote:I often wonder: Do you think it's true that the Dairy Queen couldn't have children because she was married to Mr. Softee?

I've noticed on more recent car commercials that the drivers who apparently buy Lane Keeping Assist Systems and
Active Front End Crash Avoidance Systems all of a sudden become horribly distracted, wandering into occupied lanes and nearly running over cute little kids, or rear ending vehicles that have stopped dead in front of them.
Technology has me quite perplexed.
