The man who covered up for hundreds of pedophiles died, and Pope Francis presided at his funeral. LINK
Under Bernard Law, the Boston Archdiocese was run as a criminal organization, actively covering up for dozens of pedophile priests. The fact that Law was not prosecuted is disgraceful.

Yeah, Only the Good Die Young.

Re: Surprised I haven't seen this here
This should have been one of those cases that Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI would have called "a cause for scandal" which should have precluded any sort of public funeral mass. It is a blot on the papacy of Francis that he didn't send this monster packing back to the U.S. and force him to face the consequences of his actions. A grandiose funeral for him just rubs salt in the wounds of all of his* victims.

Re: Surprised I haven't seen this here
True, but it's no different than the funeral many mafia dons get, so it's hardly an honor.
Re: Surprised I haven't seen this here
But after decades of doing that, the RC Church finally came out and said that showy public funerals for mafia dons would constitute a source of scandal, and banned the practice. In certain parts of Italy, you can imagine that the decision would have brought a risk to the lives of local priests and bishops who were required to enforce it. If the Church had the courage to stand up to the mafia in this way, I fail to see why it could not have stood up for the victims of one of its own.

Law should have been defrocked and formally excommunicated.
The Archdiocese of Boston should have been shut down and had all its assets seized under RICO.

I thought defrocking and seizing assets were the problem...
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts
