Cliché overload
Cliché overload
I was composing an email to someone and at one point realized that I had written, "They will have to eat their words if they hear right from the horse's mouth that they have the wrong end of the stick on this."
For a second I wondered whether I had been transported into that episode of Bewitched where Endora casts a spell on Darrin that makes him speak in nothing but clichés.

Cliches become cliches because they contain a common truth.

Hmm. There's more to this than meets the eye.

“In a world whose absurdity appears to be so impenetrable, we simply must reach a greater degree of understanding among us, a greater sincerity.”
Re: Cliché overload
I need to chew on this one before I hazard a guess.

Good. Run it up the flagpole once you've digested all the details.

I cried because all I could think to write was cliches until I met a man with no feet.

Yeah, Joe, that happened to me once too. I figured that was a good opportunity to walk a mile in his shoes.

I think you people are all wet, and your comments aren't worth the paper they're written on.

Since no man is an island and still waters run deep, is no man in imminent danger of becoming a drowned rat?Gob wrote:Hurry up Scooter, time and tide wait for no man.
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Walk a mile in his shoes, and then he is barefoot and a mile away. There are two kinds of people in the world, me and everybody else.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

I can assure you that no-one cares about this sort of thing around here. Yes siree Bob: that dog don't hunt in this neck of the woods.
