Well, with today being both Easter as well as All Fools' Day, this certainly seems appropriate ....

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

Happy Birthday and Speech! Speech! Speech! Regale us with tales of the wonderment of a natal day that is celebrated as a holiday in so many societies.

Happy April Fools/Easter/Birthday

Post by RayThom »

Thanks all. I had a wonderful time with family and friends -- mostly for Easter -- but my birthday celebration and Fools Day allowed for much crazy fun.

The next time it all comes together will be 2029. I'll only be 80 so I feel I can probably hang in there for it.

Yes Ray, it is a great day to smell the mushroom soil. I want you to know the biblical 'length of our days" is the ranting of a bitter old man.
https://biblehub.com/psalms/90-10.htm When Moses wrote that he was clearly very depressed. His sister Miriam and his brother Aaron both lived to be centenarians and I am sure you will have many more days full of joy and worth remembering.

For more cheerful thoughts :D . . . Ecclesiastes 12:1-5a
Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, “I find no pleasure in them” — before the sun and the light and the moon and the stars grow dark, and the clouds return after the rain; when the keepers of the house tremble, and the strong men stoop, when the grinders cease because they are few, and those looking through the windows grow dim;

when the doors to the street are closed and the sound of grinding fades; when people rise up at the sound of birds, but all their songs grow faint; when people are afraid of heights and of dangers in the streets;
when the almond tree blossoms and the grasshopper drags itself along and desire no longer is stirred.
Whether Moses or Koheleth was the most depressed is difficult to determine!

Happy April Fools/Easter/Birthday!

And a good time was had by all. Thank you for your thoughts.

"Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Do not go gentle into that good night."

This works for me. (Obviously much better than it did for its author, Dylan Thomas.) On some days I wake up and say, "Aw, shit, another one?" And at night hope that I'll get a chance for another one.

Now on to April 1st, 2020.

Life may not be fair, but it has been good.

Jimmy Buffett penned a similar line in one of his early songs, "He Went to Paris" ...
"Some of it's magic, some of it's tragic, But I had a good life all of the way."
You could find worse words to live by.
