Netflix and chill? HA!

Post by Bicycle Bill »

"I love that you get cold when it's 71 degrees out.  I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich.  I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you're looking at me like I'm nuts.  I love that after I spend the day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes.  And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night.  And it's not because I'm lonely, and it's not because it's New Year's Eve.  I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible."

It's been thirty years since Billy Crystal spoke these words — a near-perfect definition of love, at least in my opinion, anyway — in "When Harry Met Sally". And even if you haven't seen the movie, most people are still familiar with the iconic scene shot in Katz's Delicatessen in New York City ...

(incidentally, the woman who says "I'll have what she's having" was director Rob Reiner's mother, Estelle Reiner)
So how do you commemorate such a famous movie; one that was ranked #6 on the American Film Institute's list of the ten greatest films in the genre "Romantic Comedy"?  Well, on July 12th, Katz's Deli

will host a scene re-enactment in which Katz's guests can recreate the famed "I'll have what she's having" scene, sitting at the exact same table where Ryan and Crystal filmed three decades ago.  Contestants of any gender can try and fake it better than the comedic actress; a panel of to-be-announced notable New Yorkers and special guests will judge who fakes it best.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg.  Katz's has several other "When Harry Met Sally" specials and plans during the entire month of July such as a one-night special showing at the downtown Brooklyn Alamo Drafthouse complete with pastrami and smoked turkey carving stations or home delivery packages for your own date night with that someone special, with more in the works.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

I wonder if her husband Carl ever suspected that Estelle faked it.
A friend of Doc's, one of only two B-29 bombers still flying.
