Same here for ages 18-21. I believe the courts have upheld this disparate treatment for divorced parents versus married on the basis that life is tougher for a kid from a split home (to get around the equal protection arguments).

With respect to the recent scam of parents transferring guardianship, kudos to the high school counselor who saw something wasn't right and followed up with questions.
