I saw a genuine tarantula on the side of the road about a month ago. I stopped for a good look.
A few days later there was a lady from the local zoo appearing in a weekly segment on the local news. She had one in a clear plastic box . She stated that there were NO tarantulas in this area. I left a message for her at the zoo. About two hours later she returned my call. We had a nice chat.
Obviously she was wrong. If you see one, how many do you suppose are really out there?

I never kill spiders intentionally, they’re generally harmless and eat many of the ickier disease-carrying bugs so I consider them nice roommates.
Sometimes I accidentally drown daddy long-legs in the shower; when I do it makes me sad.
Once on a visit to a friend in Roswell, New Mexico I spent a few hours at a NWR outside town to see all the cranes and other migrating birds - an extra bonus was seeing numerous tarantulas, so many I had to zigzag to avoid crushing them on the road. Neighbors had a pet tarantula when I was little and that critter was instrumental in getting me past a fear of spiders - along with Charlotte, of course.
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

When I get rid of spiders in my home I gently cradle them in a tissue making sure I don't squish them. I then humanely lower them into the toilet bowl making sure they're moving freely about. Once I see them swimming robustly, I flush the toilet knowing that they'll survive the flume ride, and safely emerge somewhere outside where they are more ecologically suited.
Always remember, spiders are our friends.

Spiders? You don't know jack about spiders till you've lived in Australia.
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts
