Still, he's getting more and more recognition these days, many people are saying. Not like when Obama was president.

Trump says he doesn’t consider brain injuries sustained by US troops during Iran missile barrage ‘serious’

President Trump said Wednesday that he didn’t consider the traumatic brain injuries reported by U.S. troops following an Iranian rocket attack to be serious.

On Friday, more than a week after Pentagon officials reported no injuries in a rocket attack on an Iraqi base housing U.S. troops, reports surfaced that 11 service members had been flown out of the country to treat persistent symptoms of traumatic brain injury. Tuesday, military officials acknowledged even more troops were being evaluated for injuries.

“I heard that they had headaches, and a couple of other things,” he told a reporter during a press conference at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland. “But I would say, and I can report, that it is not very serious.”

Officials clarified Friday that they were unaware of the concussions until Thursday evening, and that they would be updating reporting procedures for possible TBIs.

The Defense Department has been grappling with the issue of TBI throughout the Global War on Terror, as the sometimes invisible injury can be hard to detect, service members can be reluctant to report their suffering and the long-term damage can wreak havoc on mental and behavioral health.

Concussion, or mild traumatic brain injury, TBI, has been the most common serious injury to U.S. military personnel since 2000, with more than 408,000 cases diagnosed.

While most people who suffer concussion recover within seven to 10 days with appropriate treatment, severe or multiple concussions can have lingering and even lasting or progressive effects such as degeneration or brain changes that put aging veterans at risk for dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease and other neurological conditions, according to researchers at the Department of Veterans Affairs Boston Healthcare System.

Mild TBI also is associated with mental health conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder or depression: a study published last year in JAMA Psychiatry found that 21 percent of hospital patients diagnosed with a mild brain injury had PTSD or depression up to six months after an injury to their heads, compared with 12 percent of patients with an injury elsewhere on the body.

At their worst, multiple concussions have been linked to chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE, the slowly progressive disease associated with athletes in high contact sports such as professional football and hockey players. Persons with CTE exhibit behavioral changes, memory loss and cognitive problems as they age.

“No, I don’t consider them very serious relative to other injuries I’ve seen,” Trump said, adding that he’s seen the aftermath of Iranian road side bombs, including “people with no legs and no arms.”

And yet the actual USA Space Force uniform is even more colossally laughable:

:loon "Redemption money"?????

Seriously...does anyone here (or anywhere else on this planet, or in this solar system) have ANY idea what the fuck he's talking about?

Is it like, you buy some illegal immigrants, and once you've emptied them, take them back to the store for a nickel apiece? Are there people at the border with fists full of coupons? Is he referring to getting money from returning runaway slaves, like they did in the old South?

Honestly, if anyone knows, I would really like an explanation.

I have a wild guess at Trump's definition. Maybe he thinks that his wall is preventing illegal aliens from coming into the country and the lack of money we have to pay for their care is paying for the wall.

Makes Trumply sense to me. That kind of explanation is what makes him a stable genius and makes his followers stable residents.

I believe he’s referring to immigrant remittances sent to countries of origin which do constitute a very significant form of quasi foreign aid - he has some notion about taxing them, but even conservative organizations don’t believe this will adequately fund a border wall:

From a piece in The Atlantic, making a case for splitting CA, NY and MA to form a 53-state union:
Two of the past three presidents received fewer votes than their opponent. In 2017, most legislation passed by the Senate was supported by senators representing only a minority of the population. And after the confirmation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh, all five of the conservative Supreme Court justices—a majority of the Court—have been appointed by presidents who lost the popular vote, supported by a group of senators who received fewer votes than the opposing senators, or both.
Isn't that the truth. We need a new constitutional convention.

Trump reportedly told aides he fears journalists will intentionally
try to infect him with coronavirus on Air Force One
President Trump puts on a brave face when talking about the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, but things are reportedly pretty different behind closed doors.  Vanity Fair reports that Trump — a self-professed germaphobe — is "melting down over this."  Perhaps not shockingly, he's focused on the media in particular, one person close to the White House said.  That reportedly includes him telling aides last week that he was concerned journalists would purposefully contract COVID-19 in an attempt to infect him on Air Force One.

Another source painted an image more in line with Trump's public reaction to the virus, as well, telling Vanity Fair he reportedly wants the Justice Department to "open an investigation of the media for market manipulation" as he tries to stave off, or at least provide a more optimistic outlook for, the plummeting stock market.

The White House did not respond to Vanity Fair's request for comment.

COVID-19 Protesters Just Like Rosa Parks, Says White House Adviser Stephen Moore

The largely white protesters who oppose social distancing measures to protect the public from COVID-19 are like Rosa Parks, who waged a historic battle for racial equality, right-wing economic commentator and White House adviser Stephen Moore repeatedly insisted Friday.

“I call these people modern-day Rosa Parks. They are protesting against injustice and a loss of liberties,” Moore told The Washington Post, in one of at least three instances of this astonishing comparison.

He also told CBS News: “It’s interesting to me that the right has become more the Rosa Parks of the world than the left is.” He said in a YouTube video quoted by The New York Times: “We need to be the Rosa Parks here, and protest against these government injustices.”

Moore is a member of President Donald Trump’s back-to-work council and part of a coalition of conservative leaders called “Save Our Country,” working against business shutdowns and stay-at-home measures aimed at stemming the spread of COVID-19. He dropped out of consideration to serve on the Federal Reserve Board last year amid concerns about his qualifications and mounting opposition to his controversial comments about gender and race. He once quipped that Trump’s first act as president would be to kick a Black family (the Obamas) out of public housing (the White House), according to The Atlantic.

Critics were furious that Moore equated protests against health safety measures to the fight against racial injustice sparked by a black activist icon, who was arrested for refusing to give up her seat on a bus to a white passenger 65 years ago.

Moore’s astounding claim was part of a new onslaught against Democratic-led states fueled by the Trump campaign.

The largest protest, in Michigan on Wednesday, was organized by the Michigan Conservative Coalition, which is also known as Michigan Trump Republicans, according to state incorporation papers, the Post reported. The group’s leaders include longtime GOP insiders, according to the newspaper.

The Michigan Freedom Fund, which heavily promoted the Michigan protest, has been linked to Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.

A goal of the organizing group was to target Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, who has been repeatedly attacked by Trump for “complaining” about the lack of federal aid to battle COVID-19 in her state. Whitmer has been rumored to be under consideration as a potential running mate for Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee for president.

Swing state Michigan is critical for Trump in November. He won the state by fewer than 11,000 votes last time around.

Columbia University historian Nicole Hemmer, author of book “Messengers of the Right” on the right-wing media, told the Post that the GOP focus on the “personal freedom” fight against health measures “almost seems like an excuse for getting out and rallying against politicians they oppose.”

Trump tweeted an incendiary command to his followers Friday to “LIBERATE” Michigan, Minnesota and Virginia — all states with Democratic governors. He also ominously urged his supporters to fight for their gun rights in Virginia.

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) accused the president of inciting “armed rebellion.” He “sent this tweet a day after his supporters showed up with assault weapons at state capitols. He knows what he’s doing,” Murphy tweeted.

Health experts have warned that too hasty a return to normalcy could cause COVID-19 cases — and deaths ― to skyrocket.

Somebody better tell Stephen Moore that no one was going to become black by letting Rosa Parks sit alongside them in the front of the bus, but even BEING on the same bus with someone who is infected with COVID-19 but asymptomatic could cause EVERYONE on the bus to become sick.
