So this time it's prostate cancer

Post by Scooter »

A biopsy three weeks ago confirmed what I suspected for several months since getting a MRI. Gleeson score is 7(3+4), which makes it not super aggressive, but definitely on the edge of needing attention. I have decided to go for a prostatectomy, which is scheduled for December 14, so as to deal with it once and for all. Given my age, my urologist agreed that it was the most sensible course.

You have to wait until December 14?! The outrage! If only you had access to American healthcare! [\sarcasm]

Sorry to hear this Scooter, glad your routine followup care caught it early and it can be dealt with swiftly. You’ll be in my spaghetti ‘prayers’ for a speedy and comfortable recovery.

I know, right? I had no idea what might be happening in hospitals still dealing with COVID-induced backlogs. And it would have been even faster if I had been on the ball. The doctor's office sent me pre-op forms two weeks ago and I didn't realize they went to my spam folder or it could have been even sooner. As it is, I barely have time to get my shit together before I have to start my 14-day isolation at the start of next week.

Best wishes for a good outcome.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

So THAT is why you've been so grouchy. We are all watching your struggle, guessing if it is our turn next. Give us some good news. I can infer the message of your blocked posts from the following comments. Unfoeing at Christmas is getting closer. I'll quit discussing that issue in public.

Made it home yesterday, not too uncomfortable, but cranky. I hate catheters. And the experience leaves me wondering how anyone could find sounding to be pleasurable.

I clicked on your link there. I knew that I probably shouldn't, and now I wish I hadn't. Let's hope it's all for the best and heading towards the light at the end of the tunnel. I should probably rephrase that. Cheers Scooter.

Best wishes for a clean path report, and remember, for the next 10 days percocet is your best friend.

Actually no real pain to speak of, and percs make me vomit. My surgeon gave me a scrip for 10 hydromorphone, I used one last night and might use another tonight, just to dull any jabs of pain I might get moving around in my sleep.
