Take care, Joe.

Those old geezers in their cars around the fairgrounds are a lethal combination.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

It would appear you are doing much better than the UK and EU!

I got my 1st COVID vaccine today. It was a drive through with a lot of friendly people and very well organized. After I got the shot I was directed to an area where people sit in their cars and wait for an anaphylactic reaction for 15 minutes. If you don't flip out they let you go.

Everybody seemed to do just fine except a pickup truck that was three cars ahead of me. You have to drive into a big warehouse where you get your shot and then you exit. As the man ahead drove out, he scraped the side of his truck on the (big wide) doorway. It was quite a scrape. He kept going like nothing happened. I hope his arm wasn't still sticking out his window. I didn't see any pieces of arm as I drove out.

Anyway, three more weeks and I get to do it again.

Our cars weren't socially distanced so I suppose they could possibly get CARVID. They wanted cars close together to keep the lines short I guess. But we all had to remain inside of our own cars at all times. That's fine with me. I sure didn't want to socialize with all of those old people... :D

They should do this at a drive in theater. Sounds sort of like it’s like one without the screen and entertainment.

Thread tangent - one of the local drive-in's here took to renting out their space to a local church for drive-in worship and such this past summer. I understand it went well.

If the Catholic Church would step up, there could be mass vaccinations.

I doubt it. I am sure there is a conspiracy theory out there indicating that the vaccine interferes with fertility.

Very punny!

Of course the Pope has had his jab as has the living Pope emeritus, both part of a rigorous Vatican City health service vaccination program which has inoculated hundreds in the community and beyond via familial attachment to Vatican City staff.

Pope Francis also made a strong public statement in Italian media asserting that it is the moral obligation of every person to take the vaccine to protect the health of others.

Finally, he’s issued this papal statement supporting the vaccine despite the use of fetal tissue in its development. https://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/con ... id_en.html

I suspect that if asked, the Catholic dioceses in the USA and doubtless also worldwide would happily oblige in whatever way public health officials requested for setting up mass vaccination sites, including on church property. Probably not during the mass, but right after? 😉

I got the pun. I just chose to ignore it and go another direction. Chill.

Could be worse ... they could be headed to the '55-Plus Club' day and the all-you-can-eat crab legs on the buffet at the casinos....

They would no doubt require a confession to qualify for a mass vaccination.

Just got my first shot, it was actually Pfizer/BioNtech rather than Moderna, so my second shot will be 18-21 days from now.

Tiny needle, barely felt it, no allergic reaction. Chatted with another home health worker who had the appointment right after me - both thrilled to be getting it.

The most excitement was finding out that Walgreens no longer contracts with my insurer since the first of this year, so I had to pay of pocket. Oh the outrage, it was $2.59!

So I’ve had my first jab of the Pfizer vaccine. It was all very efficient. I signed up on line for a 6PM appointment. They have made an old store in a strip mall (used to be the Amish furniture place IIRC) into a vaccine center. Plenty of parking. It was snowing as I arrived at 5:55; they checked my temperature and asked me the usual questions once I was through the door; I stood in line with around 50 others for perhaps 20 minutes, six feet apart; and got to the desk for the paper work - ID, DOB etc. Two minutes later I had 0.3 mL of Pfizer’s best in my left arm and I then had to sit for 15 minutes to make sure that I did not lapse into anaphylactic shock. 50 minutes in and out. No arm pain.

Next installment is scheduled for Feb 14th. In theory then, by early April, I should be 95% protected.

The vaccine itself is free. Per the CDC, healthcare providers are allowed to charge a fee for the administrative costs of administering the vaccine, which is waived or otherwise reduced based on your health insurance. In MA, certain carriers, including mine, are not charging members anything.
