I think that's what you might call "tongue-in-cheek," and that video is, definitely.

Speaking of "more of a video than the song," here's one just released by a friend of my son; in addition to the music, Nick did all the claymation/animation for the video. It's cute and pleasantly jazz-pop-y.

I consider the Monster Magnet “a little too on the nose” the play vey well and come up with some very catchy tune but like most of the “stoner rock” genre they just aren’t what would be considered “much concept” or deep or even particularly artistic and they definitely aren’t above throwing around gratuitous highly provocative lyrics. In a very real sense they are what they are mocking just usually presented in a different package the song itself presents the exact attitude the video presents but in a genre language the music isn’t really associated with the music type. (Though there are more than a few swipes in its contemporary genre as well). I mean even those with the most rudimentary ability to comprehend the English language can figure out what word the second “mother” is supposed to be.

I would say the video is almost hyper-self aware while pointing out the hypocrisy of “genre snobs” which paradoxically transforms it to high concept social commentary.

This 22 year old seems to be channeling the 70s - I’m crazy about the suit but the music is off the charts.

This is so true - the song I chose to post is not the one I would have chosen when I was a huge BB fan decades ago and adored the sappy love songs, but it is one that resonates so much more with me after decades of living and hurting, and the fact that it expresses the alienation of the individual and yet sounds so joyful - that's pure Brian Wilson. Such joy from such a troubled mind; it's a lesson for all of us.

I guess I'm not a true Beach Boys fan because I never listened to the 2012 album on which is this lovely tune, which resonates with us oldsters. Thanks to Bruce Springsteen for posting about it on Facebook which is how I found it this morning.
