Michael Tilson Thomas RIP
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

Re: Michael Tilson Thomas RIP
I remember when he was the assistant and principal guest conductor for the BSO. He was at Tanglewood a lot during the summer I spent there in 1973, but I don't think he ever conducted the youth orchestra (we did get Seiji Ozawa once tho, which was v. exciting). I think MTT may have been conducting the chorus that summer. But even that early in his career everyone knew about him and his exceptional talent. He seems to have had a happy and successful life, brain cancer notwithstanding, and that is no small thing in the classical music world. RIP.

Amen. I have no trouble saying he left humanity in a better place because of what he did when he was walking this earth.
