Re: Weiner tweets his wanger
I would call it cheating. Looking at a woman with whom you work and appreciating her legs or boobs is one thing, sending her a pic of your weiner is entirely different.
I encourage my husband to look even pointing out women with attributes he appreciates. He understands that stepping beyond that means I get the house, half his net worth, including half his pension.
If Mrs. Weiner is inclined I hope she nails him.
Karma baby.

Well, whatever it was, the apologies and any consequences ought to be between him and his wife; I don't really need to see politicians' personal domestic issues as the lead story in the news.
GAH!

Re: Weiner tweets his wanger
Maybe we just don't know enough about it -- and maybe we never will, and maybe we never should -- to express thoughtful opinions. For all we know, the situtation between them could be nothing like what people tend to presume. For all we know, she took the pictures, and he sent them out because the two of them were interested in exploring a three-way.
That's just an example. The point is that not everyone's married life is what society has trained (or tried to train) us to think that married life ought to be.
There are married couples who try three-ways, and some of those couples find three-ways worth pursuing further. There are couples who get together with other couples and either swap or have mini-orgies.
There are wives whose husbands want to be tied up and given the strap-on, but the wives aren't up for that, so they tell the husbands to go elsewhere for it. There are husbands whose wives want simultaneous vaginal and anal intercourse, but the husbands aren't up for that, so they tell the wives wo go elsewhere for it.
There are spouses who don't want sex with anyone but each other, but they get their biggest thrills by having sex where other people can see them.
And those are still just examples. The permutations are endless.
Who among us is in a position to tell those spouses that their married lives are not what they ought to be?
Maybe we should just let Huma Abedin's and Anthony Weiner's marriage, including their sex life, be something between them -- or among them and whatever other(s) they might bring into it -- be between them.
After all, isn't that what all of us would want?

Yes, one would think so. But is that really what matters?@meric@nwom@n wrote:Sue U wrote:Well, whatever it was, the apologies and any consequences ought to be between him and his wife; I don't really need to see politicians' personal domestic issues as the lead story in the news.

It seems to me that we should be asking ourselves a much more important question: How have we let this become the reality of it all?
We are the ones who decide what matters and what does not. I am thinking that we, collectively, have made some really bad decisions ....

I'm at a loss as to how anyone could get his jollies doing that.

Re: Weiner tweets his wanger
WAIT a second!
This is all news because HE used the shit judgment to send indelicate pictures of himself to women he met on the internet and had never met in person and had no reasonable expectation of placing his trust in.
SERIOUSLY, that doesn't bear on his maturity and judgment as a sitting member of Congress charged with making decisions that affect us all?!?
OF COURSE IT DOES; to what degree is the only real question.
This is simply not a case of the public learning of a married couple's mutual choices regarding intimacy and judging those choices unfairly. Nobody is suggesting - not even Weiner - that his wife was on board with this behavior.
Sorry, Andrew D, but I call bullshit.

Oh, come on.
If there is something along the lines that I suggested -- purely hypothetically; I have no idea what their marital relationship is like, and neither does anyone else here -- do you really think that he would humiliate his wife by saying so in public?
Do really think that he should?
Speaking of calling bullshit, if he came out and said "My wife and I like to do this stuff," most of the people crapping on him here would be outraged. We'd be hearing nothing but "How dare he expose their private lives just to save his political career" so loudly our laptop screens would be vibrating. And I think that your voice would figure prominently.
Maturity and judgment?
How about we exercise some maturity and judgment? How about we behave like adults and look at what he has done -- for good or ill -- in his capacity as a Representative? How about we stop obsessing about his penis?
Or is that just too much for us?

Re: Weiner tweets his wanger
It seems that some of those women, didn't want such e-advances from this congressman. That's significant.
Re: Weiner tweets his wanger
Maybe the women that this Weiner guy was sending his naked pictures to were all airport security guards.
Maybe he was hoping to get through airport security lines more quickly in order to allow him more time to work for the people that elected him.
We really don't know, do we?

Re: Weiner tweets his wanger
Apparently he was communicating with a 17 year old girl. If that communication wasn't solely civics-related in nature, then in my opinion he's an untrustworthy creep who I wouldn't want as MY legislator - or husband. I feel terrible for Huma Abedin. The argument that she knew about and/or approved this behaved is purely speculative and irrelevant, especially given his own statements.
I love social media. In law enforcement we are regularly able to find damning evidence of guilt with relative ease by visiting the public pages containing the defendants' own statements and/or pictures. These are DUMB people, with poor judgment, who certainly don't belong in high office - again, in my opinion.
I think the type of ego displayed by Weiner and others like him (I can only imagine the coffee talk between Huma & Hillary) is all too common among the men (show me some female examples & I'll expand my thinking) who are drawn to political office, and the resulting scandals detract from far more important issues that need to be addressed. It would be nice if they behaved like mature adults & kept their urges in check & their wieners in their pants.

The resulting scandals detract from far more important issues that need to be addressed only because we permit ourselves to be distracted by them. These sorts of things do not command the media spotlight despite us; they command the media spotlight because of us.bigskygal wrote:... the resulting scandals detract from far more important issues that need to be addressed. If we "behaved like mature adults & kept [our] urges in check," ABC and CBS and CNN and all the rest of them -- even FOX -- would not be running headline stories about Wiener's wiener. But they are.
And whose fault is that? Ours.

Re: Weiner tweets his wanger
I am reminded of the Evelyn Dick murder case in Hamilton, Ontario in the 1940s. She was convicted but acquitted on appeal of the murder of her husband, whose torso was found after someone had sawn off the head, arms and legs. A radio play about the murder and subsequent trial was titled "How could you Mrs. Dick?"* - would work equally well in the present case should Mrs. Weiner choose to exact a similar revenge.@meric@nwom@n wrote:If Mrs. Weiner is inclined I hope she nails him.

Her husband understands that being unfaithful, even once, even in the slightest degree, means that he will lose her. What's wrong with being clear about that?
