What is "Google [Bot]"?

Post by Andrew D »

And why is it a registered member?
Reason is valuable only when it performs against the wordless physical background of the universe.

It's a search engine spider and it's not exactly a registered member even though thats how it shows up on the users list, it's the way the software functions, it "recognises" most of the known spiders and we can control via the admin panel what the bots are allowed to see and do on the forum individually - so for example we could let google look at one page but stop yahoo doing the same if we so wished (which we wouldn't) by being "friendly" to the spiders we'll start to appear on the search engine pages.
If you can keep your head while those around you are losing theirs, you may have misjudged the situation.

Do "bots" enable other people to find the forum, as in making us available on google searches?
