Poll-time .... aka My Husband Has No Sense of Humour

Post by The Hen »

Gob insisted that I be woken up from a nap to view the attached clip.

He thought it was SO good and SO funny that he couldn't help quivering with laughter as he viewed it.

I say it is complete arse and not funny in the first place.

What do you think?

Bah!

Are you sure you embedded the right video? :shrug

If so . . . :loon

Sorry, Gob - that video is only funny if you are a 14 year old boy. :P

Yes.

I did embed the right video. It was the Dubliners performing with ACDC playing over the top of them.

... and thank you.

Wait, maybe it's funny if you actually know the Dubliners. Like if someone dubbed Meatloaf over Wayne Newton. Yeah, that's the ticket! Now I feel bad for poor Gob.

Anyway, I get the sense that some part of Gob IS a 14 year old boy. Which is not entirely bad! ;)

I dunno.

It's either the cold he's caught, or he is going through 'manopause'.

He got our mugs confused and made my coffee in his grotty tea mug and couldn't stop giggling again. (Mind you, neither could I.). Then he found himself scolding the sink for the state it was in when cleaning the kitchen.

Ahh, bless him.

How could he possibly confuse that bucket with any other mug?

Not ten minutes ago..

Phone rings at Chez Moi.

Hen; "Hello"
Me; "It's only me, I'm at the shop."(I'd left home not 2 mins before, after being given my orders.)
Hen; "Yes, and?"
Me; "What did I come down here for?"
Hen; "Yoghurt, mushrooms, upside-down wine, King sized Cherry ripe".
Me; "God, I'm going senile, I'll write that up for IMDB"
Hen; "......"
Me; "Sorry, I mean Plan B."
Hen; "Hangs up."

It's all fun and games in good old Aus today...

Well look on the bright side; if overdubbing incongruous music makes him that happy he won't be difficult to please.

Guys with banjos lip syncing a classic rock song...

Hilarious....

Hen, the problem isn't that Strop has no sense of humor; on the contrary....

It's that he's easily, (very easily) amused.....

:P

ETA:

What actually might have been funny, is if they had performed a version of the song in classic Irish ballad band style, including banjo riffs....

Yes, the whole imagery thing works better when you realize the mug holds over a pint of tea and can in no way be mistaken for the crockery a 'normal' person would chose.

No lip synch involved Jim, it's just pure conicdence, the guy who caugfht the match up was just clever or lucky.

Here's the original. Shane McGowan makes this clip!!

I love Shane McGowan, my role model! (Except I cannot sing.)

MacGowan has reportedly spent the last month in Spain having extensive dental work to repair the acute damage to his mouth caused by decades of hard partying. During one all-day drinking session in Limerick, Ireland, he fell over a wall, smashing his teeth on a pile of bricks. The 51-year-old became renowned for his dishevelled appearance and his terrible teeth, which eventually became his trademark. But it wasn't popular with everyone. One American record company airbrushed some teeth onto him on an album cover so as not to put off U.S. fans. MacGowan had recently talked about getting his teeth fixed to stop his face 'falling apart'.

Yea, I thought his teeth were the funniest part of the video.

Has anyone suggested a toothbrush to him?

I like the video. It's very funny.

Obviously, based on responses posted here, a lot of people don't get it.

But that's not a bad thing.

In order to appreciate the endless varieties of styles of humor, one must possess a keen but slightly warped view of the human race - and have the ability to place one's self on the outside looking in without prejudice.

For example, I'm now re-reading my own post and it's hilarious!

I thought it was pretty funny but maybe that's because I know who Ronnie Drew is and what he's like.

Now if they could do it with Luke Kelly it'd be even funnier! He even looked the part...
