One of them has a father who was polygamist.

Re: Obama v. Romney
Well the people who count will have their say;
A conservative US Supreme Court is intent on opposing Barack Obama's initiatives at every turn, writes Nick O'Malley in Washington.
They are the nine men and women who have broken the heart of America's left, a Supreme Court bench more conservative than any other in modern history.
Once it was conservatives who alleged the courts were guilty of activism - of making law from the bench by striking down those created by Congress. Now it is the cry of liberals, who see the social architecture created by progressive governments over generations under threat.
Since 2000, the court has cleared the way for a Republican president to take office, scrapped campaign finance regulations and wound back affirmative action laws.

For those interested in seeing how the polling is going in individual states, and how that makes the current electoral map look, here is a great link:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls ... e_map.html
Some of this is a little misleading as a snap shot of the current situation because in some states there haven't been polls since late January...(Minnesota for one....)and in others some recent polls polls are being averaged with older ones....(Michigan which is listed as "leaning Obama" for example, has a current RCP average lead of a little over 11% for Obama, but this is because it includes two polls from February when Romney and Santorum were slugging it out prior to that state's GOP primary... Romney trailed Obama head-to head by 16 and 18 percent in those polls....the most recent poll, taken at the beginning of April, has Obama with just a four point lead.)
Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, with a combined 67 electoral votes, all have their most recent polls, (taken in April) showing the race in those states within the margin of error. (Obama leads narrowly in Ohio and Pennsylvania, Romney in Florida in those polls)

EDITING ALERT!!!!
My most recent post in this thread began:
That sentence now reads:
Please rest assured that I am deeply ashamed for my failure in having admitted to this at the time I did it, and that I will make every effort to assure that it does not happen again.
I know this board deserves better than that.

What is the matter with you? You should have waited until the editing window had lapsed, and then created a thread to notify the admins that they were to edit it for you.

Re: Obama v. Romney
Are they serious? Do they think the American voting public is so incredibly stupid as to believe that this decision was difficult? Or that enough time has passed that anyone would take WJC seriously about anything involving national security?
Good God. I hope this is a precursor of things to come out of O'Bama's campaign HQ.

Re: Obama v. Romney
No, not a difficult decision at all. Except that the intelligence might have been wrong, the compound might have been a lot more fortified than it was, a few dozen SEALS could have ended up captured, tortured and executed on video for the world to see...
If that had happened, you would now be saying that it would be "incredibly stupid" to believe the mission could succeed.

Re: Obama v. Romney
I believe Scooter's essentially correct...
This could have been a huge " Desert 1" type fiasco, with no Bin Ladin, dead SEALS, a captured stealth helicopter and prisoners to boot....An enormous embarrassment and blow up with Pakistan, with nothing positive accomplished....
And the intel on this was mixed; the last summaries gave no better than a 60% chance that UBL was in the compound. If it had gone wrong, Obama would certainly have gotten the blame; he deserves the credit.
This is a situation Presidents frequently face; having to make decisions based on conflicting intelligence reports, going with what they believe, on balance, to be the best assessment; sometimes it turns out well, sometimes it doesn't.....
Sound familiar?

Re: Obama v. Romney
He had to assume that one way or another this decision point would become public. Had he decided to do NOTHING, he knew his timidity could never be lived down.
On the surface it looks like a complicated decision, but there was no alternative but to go forward, either tactically or politically.
More important, this is a PURELY POLICITAL pitch that is being made by this video. It depends for its effectiveness on the viewer believing that doing nothing would have been a tenable choice. This is NO SALE. In the public's eye, we had been pursuing this bastard for YEARS, and the very idea that the Prez could be presented with this opportunity and not gone forward, out of fear that our intelligence might be bogus, or that somebody might be killed in the effort would be sufficient grounds, by itself, to disqualify Barry for re-election as CIC.
Bottom line, he had no choice but to go forward.
