One could say the same thing of your entire political class.

Who elected the Queen of England?

At least the "political parasites' in the US can be terminated, royalty cannot.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

The last "Queen of England" died over 400 years ago.

Sorry, Jim.................never a monarchist and never will be.

WE fought a bloody revolution in the 18th century to rid the American people of such a scourage.

Save your condolences for her, she supposedly died a virgin.

And ended up with the Bush and Kennedy dynasties instead. :D

Sorry you feel that way Dale,.....

I'd like to think that in the last two centuries, we've moved a little past that....

But perhaps not... :nana

That's the thing Americans don't get. They imagine that because they don't use titles, they don't have homegrown royalty.

I do understand that it's inherent to the human condition to create myths about certain folk and put them on a pedastal. It's the same urge that created religion.

I'd like to think, however, that ultimately the rational will win out and we will stop believing in flying spaghetti monsters and that certain peoples bloodlines make them better than others.

I greatly respect many of the posters who defend the Queen, and I'd agree that she is a class act, but I find it repugnant that in these enlightened times any people are 'ruled' by a monarch whose rule is endorsed by a flying spaghetti monster.

The only difference between Queen Elizabeth and her kin and the regular folk in her realm is the 1 billion net worth and the fact that none of them has ever had to clean a toilet.

I'd be just as motivated to visit the UK and see the castles and remnants of a monarchy. I hope I live to see the monarchy done away with, but alas I think those hopes may be in vain.
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

They were trying to create a lineage. That's the point.
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?
