How big was it in total? You do have a limit unless you start paying for it...
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

Do know, I'll rip it again to a lower (TV) quality, see if that does it. If not I'll mail, it.

X-Men First Class. Far better than all the other X-person movies I thought. Perhaps could have done without Huge Jackoff's cameo which was probably vastly surprising and amusing to those who think that f*** and c*** are the epitome of skilled writing.

Meade

In a sense it was better, but it also changed so much about the original story; 'Angel' is now a girl with insect wings, instead of a boy with ...angel wings. Havoc is really part of the Second Class of X-men. Azazel was never a member of the X-men, at any time...
Wolverine's cameo was probably to answer the question: if he was around at the time of the first 'Class' then why didn't he join the team back then? Wait.... then why did Havoc join it?
Ya see, what I mean!?

While this X-movie took all kinds of liberties with the franchise, I have one personal peev:

Worst Beast Ever;

Image

We get this huge build up that he's eventually going to be athletic and powerful; complete with a 'muscles bulging and tearing out of his clothes' metamorphosis scene.
The final result? We never get to see a buff, blue, furry body; he immediately puts on coveralls that make him look like a sled dog in a sweater.
Before transformation: he could leap around like a flea on a hot brick.
After transformation: Even in his [short] choreographed fight scenes, he looks slow.

To add, this was the best cinematic Beast;

Kelsey Grammer

Stuck in bed in house arrest (doc ordered do nothing to get over this foul cold), I watched W.E. last night. It is Madge's glossy film about Wallis, David, and a modern woman who dreams of their romance as her marriage goes sour - but learns it wasn't all glamour and pretty dresses. The movie was entertaining, with a good performance by the actor who played Wallis Simpson, but it was mostly glamour and pretty dresses. Free on Netflix, plus the cold, made it somewhat worthwhile.

This is indeed the age of medical specialisation. I remember the good old days of bed-pan nurses with those funny hats on

That was a good one. For those whose tastes run a bit different from the mainstream, I just saw a German movie last weekend called "Wetlands"; I won't go into the details of it (google it if you're interested), but it's and odd coming of age film where, despite the movies attempts to make the main character unlikeable), you still wind up caring for her. Warning, it's not for everyone's taste--a couple of people walked out shortly after it started.

Eighteen year-old Helen Memel (Carla Juri) likes to skateboard, masturbate with vegetables and thinks that body hygiene is greatly overrated
I thought you said 'different from the mainstream'? Movie reviews... so often they've saved me from walking in.

Meade--it's very different but, as I said, not to everyone's taste. But the reviews have apparently worked once again.

Today's Special -- a sweet little movie about families, food, and tradition.
Samir (Aasif Mandvi), a sous chef at an upscale New York restaurant, becomes frustrated with his boss (Dean Winters) and quits. His dreams of studying French cooking in France are shattered after his father becomes ill and he must take over his family's Indian restaurant, Tandoori Palace. Samir's knowledge of Indian cooking is limited until he meets the larger than life gourmet chef and taxi driver Akbar (Naseeruddin Shah). Samir's world is transformed via Akbar's cooking lessons, the magic of the masala and a beautiful co-worker, Carrie (Jess Weixler). While his mother (Madhur Jaffrey) tries to get him to settle down with a nice Indian girl and his father (Harish Patel) is convinced he will amount to nothing, Samir, Akbar, and a kitchen staff of eccentric characters concoct the most magical and mouth watering dishes in what soon becomes the best little Indian restaurant in New York.
I preferred it over the big-budget/Dream Works Hundred Foot Journey that was out this summer.

Ha, I learned about Indian cuisine from her cookbooks! (Back when people still read cookbooks ... :? )

ha! I still have shelves and shelves of cookbooks, I even bought one last month (OK, for $1 at a yard sale) - Larousse Gastronomique -- because you really do have to know the roots of cooking.

And yes, I thought it super appropriate that she was cast in a food movie. Her World Vegetarian is still one of my faves!

I have a lot of cookbooks as well, and subscribe to Food and wine more for the recipes than the wine discussions. Good cookbooks are treasures.

I stumbled on this little gem recently; excellent performances from all, but especially Hoffman and Walken. Soundtrack is terrific!

And this one, which I'd never heard of but stumbled on in the Red Box when it was released on DVD. I watched it 4 times before returning it, it was so good. All excellent performances, from the well-known and not-so-well-known actors alike.

As I recall, that film did fairly well in golden Globe and SAG nominations, especially for the performances by the cast.
