A British bride-to-be has been left humiliated after the hotel where she planned to hold her wedding described her and her fiance as not "the right type of people" to stay there.
Pauline Bailey, 27, was accidentally sent an email by the wedding co-ordinator of the Stoke Park Hotel in Buckinghamshire, south-east England, intended for a colleague.
In the email, the co-ordinator, Michele Connelly, asks her colleague for advice on how to "put the wedding off" because "I don't think they are the type of people that we would want to have at Stoke Park".
Miss Bailey and her fiance, Paul Carty, had planned a lavish £10,000 ($15,500) wedding at the hotel, a venue made famous by its role in the James Bond film Goldfinger.
Miss Connelly's email says:The story has appeared in newspapers all over Britain, with London's The Telegraph reporting that Miss Bailey found the email "deeply hurtful" and "disgusting"."Hi Carlo
I need your advice on this wedding, I know this probably doesn't sound very nice, but I am trying to put this wedding off as I don't think they are the type of people that we would want to have at Stoke Park.
I spoke to the Bride [sic] yesterday as she was enquiring about availability, and I have put her off for now by telling her the dates that she is looking at are not available, but she has asked me if I can get back to her with avail-able dates around end of June beginning of July 2013.
Help!!!
Michele."
She said the couple had been discriminated against.
Miss Bailey said she believes her fiance's age and appearance, including his pierced eyebrow and two tiny earrings, were the reasons why the hotel didn't want them to stay.
A hotel staff member apologised to Miss Bailey in an email and invited her to go ahead with her wedding at the hotel. It would be "delighted" to discuss the issue further with her.
But the hotel said it would not discuss the issue further with the press because it was now the subject of legal action.

Yeah, that was it - his tiny ear piercings

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Whilst I'm not a huge supporter of the litigative society we're becoming - if I were this couple I'd be suing the arse off this snobby set.
That being said £10k on a wedding?? A wedding isn't about the amount you spend it's about the words you vow in front of the celebrant and the friends and family around you.

Agreed Daisy, it's not about being a "Celeb for a day".
