You've got that right. What other words did the potty-mouths come up with to show how "now" they are? Well done - very brave and literate

Just some do gooder hanging about with the scum of society, nothing of any merit.

FYI Meade, "Trainspotting" is a tale of redemption, and a "road to Damascus" moment. Don't let your bigotry blind you to the good in things.

Why don't you get it? It's not bigotry but a decision that I don't want to spend 120 minutes with people like that, based on the reviews that I read. If I don't like the description of a movie, why should I go watch it? For God's sake, all I have to do is read the Wikipedia synopsis to decide that I don't want to have anything to do with such low-life garbage

Again, I'm not commenting on artistic merit - I think CP got that? Maybe it's brilliant. But I don't need it and I don't have to agree that it's a brilliantly worthy movie. It isn't. It's crap, in the true meaning - shitty people doing shitty things

Sounds like bigotry to me, especially when you only have second hand information.

I think you are just scared about having your prejudices about "drugs and dregs of society, swearing and being total losers," challenged, you may find out that they are just ordinary people, and that redemption for them is possible, (as in the movie.)

We have some reformed addicts on this board you know. :-)

Banshee, LJ? Haven't watched it - probably won't.
It has a lot of Justified and Longmire elements to it...

It's a really well crafted series...

but a little too much gratuitous simulated sex...

which is why God invented fast forward... ;)

I judge whether or not to watch a movie before I watch a movie (and so do you, along with everyone else).

I personally think Meade is missing out by his shunning of the anti-hero concept as it is an effort to distill morality into it's prime elements as well as an exploration on redemption.

I KNOW I know the quote but can't put a finger on the movie so I went upstairs and spoke it to my nerdy cousins and they immediately shout in unison

Image

My cousins introduced me to it, years ago, and I used to have a DVD of it.

I blame the MS brain for making me unable to draw the info from the memory banks on my own.
