We get family basic (I think that's what it's called) :shrug and they threw in showtime for "free". I think it was for a year but each time it's due to be charged for we say fine take it away and they give it back to us anyway. Not that I have ever watched it.
Premium Service gives you a bunch of hbo and cinemax channels along with playboy and the nfl package and some kind of soccer package.
No cricket though. :nana

I also have internet and phone with them.

Ah, yes, I see. Similarly, I took off the Sports/Entertainment package to get the cost down to $70/month and tried to downgrade my internet to 5 or 10bps - but downgrading that would add $34! So I've kept the "we gave it to you for free last year" 50bps or whatever it is.

Sad for you about the cricket... how can we live this way?

Yep, you got it, Big RR.

Science fiction? Well, it takes place in 1849, 1936, 1973, 2012, 2144. and 2346 (the quotes I gave are in order), with each of the major stars playing six different characters, one in each timeframe, so I guess it's at least partly sci-fi.

I highly recommend it: it's even got sex (a little), car crashes, and explosions. The short description on IMDb says, "An exploration of how the actions of individual lives impact one another in the past, present and future, as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero, and an act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution."

econo--I guess it could be more fantasy than sci fi, but a good film whatever its genre.

As for a new quote:
Tell me the truth, Frank, remember that? We used to live by it. And you know what's so good about the truth? Everyone knows what it is however long they've lived without it. No one forgets the truth, Frank, they just get better at lying.
A couple of hints; it's from 2008 and was OK at the box office (it was not a wide release) and nominated for a number of Academy Awards. The story is pretty depressing.

I just checked, and Cloud Atlas isn't available through Xfinity on Showtime, it's on Cinemax...

We'll probably watch it tonight or tomorrow night...

It's also available to rent on Amazon Prime (and several ala carte streaming services) for $2.99...

Wasn't there a "Frank" in Scarface? The drug lord Tony took out?
Did Michelle Pfiefer say that line?
I kinda doubt it.

Yikes, the second one in a row that I have not even heard of. And that is more on me than the ones who posted. I've got to get out more, or at least get a wider selection on Netflix/Amazon Prime. ;)

BTW, if anyone watches Cloud Atlas based on my recommendation, you might want to refer to Quote #6 in my previous post ("Oh lonesome night. And babbits bawling..."etc.) during the opening scene. Those words are the first in the movie, and they are mumbled by Tom Hanks in an all-but-incomprehensible invented post-apocalyptic tribal dialect. I literally could not understand more than about a third of that monologue without looking it up on the Internet.

Excellent movie, IMHO. If nobody else gets it after a wee bit longer, I'll share the answer.

My born again holier-than-thou sister said the heroine of this story was a spoiled selfish bitch (we watched it together). Talk about missing the point entirely!

There's a hint in there, I suppose. :shrug

To keep things interesting, one more quote (and this one mentions Frank as well):

No, Frank. This is what's unrealistic. It's unrealistic for a man with a fine mind to go on working year after year at a job he can't stand. Coming home to a place he can't stand, to a wife who's equally unable to stand the same things. And you know what the worst part of it is? Our whole existence here is based on this great premise that we're special. They we're superior to the whole thing. But we're not. We're just like everyone else! We bought into the same, ridiculous delusion. That we have to resign from life and settle down the moment we have children. And we've been punishing each other for it.
and a final hint, the two leads were played by an actor and actress fans were pushing to reunite in a romantic film--this was not that sort of film.

I would say not a chick flick, at least in the romantic comedy or melodrama sense.

I think you'll have to take it BSG.

Meade--I've seen many films I imagine you would characterize that way, even thought a few were pretty good or better; but this does not fall within those boundaries by any stretch of the imagination (unless you characterize all films you don't like (and you'd probably not like this one) as being upchuck worthy.

But since there is no Chuck Norris in it, perhaps it is a non Chuck film. :nana

Chuck Norris can't up-chuck.
He can't out-do himself.
