First we mourn, then we March, and now we work!

Strategy meetings, calls, texts, emails, begin today. Are you all so naive as to think there wasn't a plan? Of course there is a plan, and it begins now. Anyone who would like to get connected, please PM me for resources. If you follow me in FB I'm posting regular Activist Alerts for both short-term and long-term actions.

#RiseUp!

ETA -- Boston crowd estimates this morning at 175k, almost 1/3 of the size of the whole city! All incredibly peaceful and respectful. We got kudos from the Police Commissioner and the DPW about how we conducted ourselves. That was replicated all across the country ---3-4 Million marched in the US and not one arrest. See what can happen when women lead!!

ETA2 -- How incredibly condescending to suggest that the people marching didn't vote. I know hundreds who were out there yesterday and yes, we all voted. Do not forget the popular vote margin. We represent those 3+ million more voters received by HRC.

Interesting. The higher the quality of signs carried by protesters, the lower the amount of violence.

Womxn’s March on Seattle organizers told KIRO 7 News their estimates are based on its Facebook page and Eventbrite responses. They expect Seattle to host the third-largest march in the country; there will be more than 600 marches internationally.
The local group also opted to spell “women” with an “x” to acknowledge the impact of discrimination based not only on gender but also race, sexual orientation, nationality, faith, class and disability — and how those different forms of discrimination often intersect, overlap and reinforce each other.

No where. And I never saw a sign like that anywhere or in any of the many many photos I've seen. More "alternative facts"

With all due respect, nobody here has the requisite powers of omniscience to declare summarily that everyone who marched Saturday voted in November. I've seen a number of participants and organizers admit in interviews with media that the ball was dropped due to a certain level of complacency about the expected result. There is certainly a high likelihood that many of the marchers were Stein and/or Johnson voters, too. But arguing about that at this point seems like wasted energy? Water under the bridge and all . . .

I've been following the movement closely since November 9, I'm also dialed in to all the resources for direct action opportunities, etc. I wasn't able to march in person because I'm not walking well in recent weeks and having bladder dysfunction issues that made attendance at a mass demonstration problematic - and very disappointed that I was only able to watch on CSPAN while wearing my pussy hat at home.

But I've signed up to volunteer with ACLU and am looking for other local opportunities to work on issues that I care about and which Trump's agenda will make more important than ever. The march was great but Trump doesn't care and none of the GOP legislators do, either. It's the work we do day in and out from here on that can make a real difference.

I'm trying to be hopeful that many who were motivated to march will stick around and participate in the real work, but having lived as long as I have and been involved in activism for all of my adult life, I'm not so naive to believe that most will. Fingers crossed though, as always!

I'm perversely proud of my granddaughter who is attending uni in Seattle, studying for a Masters in trendy-lefty buzzword social activism.

She's the one on the left.

How's that for "alternative facts"? :shrug "I have not seen" apparently does not equal "nowhere"

Correct, non-citizens have no right to participate in the political process of another country. What is interesting is the gall of these people to think they do. Obviously they do not think of this country as a sovereign nation. And why should they; any people that can not control their borders has a no right to be and independent nation.

Congratulations, Meade, on your awesome granddaughter, and on finding one of the very few misspelled words on >2,000,000 handmade signs.

At least that "misspelling" was INTENTIONAL! ;)
