I would think that the vast majority of the North Korean people would ultimately welcome ‘liberation’ by the Chinese - how fucking crazy is that?! The Chinese regime isn’t great, but most Chinese people - even the rural poor - eat on a fairly regular basis.

When you see, just a few timezones away, that the Rohinga people see salvation in Bangladesh you realize just how fucked up that corner of the world is.

How much does the average North Korean know about what life is like outside their borders? Who can say what 70+ years of indoctrination and being cut off from the outside world has wrought on the psyche of a people? They might be prepared to die to the last man, woman and child in defense against any "invader".

The route to their loyalty is through their stomachs. China's big concern is getting millions of North Korean refugees.
