You do realize that he is using the “beloved president” in a sarcastic tone of voice; however, he is being fair? Which is more than can be said for his critics, sometimes?
Soon, I’ll post my farewell message. The end is starting to get close. There are many misconceptions about me, and before I go, to live with my ancestors on the steppes, I want to set the record straight.

Re: Oboma, disrespect?
Before we consider anything disrespect we should first ask ourselves this question: Has the flag been modified to the point that it no longer represents the values our country and is no longer our flag.

Re: Oboma, disrespect?
Why change the subject, are you now no longer interested in talking about why you were so quick to post such a spurious accusation without any basis in fact?

Considering you posted it, that was already a given. That's the problem with posting any piece of tripe you come across.liberty wrote:Narrow in interest and lacks imagination

Re: Oboma, disrespect?
I'm 41 years old, dgs.
I pledged allegiance to the flag every day of 13 years of public schooling. I hold my hand to my heart in salute to the flag during the national anthem at sporting events, parades, etc. I usually end up tearing up, too.
I pledged allegiance to the flag when I became an Elk recently, too.
Members of my family have fought in every US war from the Revolution to Vietnam.
I respect the flag. I also support the 1st Amendment and the right of folks to burn it, if they choose.

Re: Oboma, disrespect?
Lovely.
If it had occurred to you, I'll bet you would have added,
"And I willingly pay many thousands of dollars every year to the United States Government, and entrust that government to spend it wisely for mine and the general public's benefit, in accordance with the provisions of the U.S. Constitution."
Right?

Re: Oboma, disrespect?
As a single, childfree woman I pay lots of taxes for lots of things that don't directly benefit me. With my salary doubling next month, I'll be paying lots more.
I wish the government would spend less on the Pentagon and optional 'wars', but I rely on the democratic process. I hope I live to see Citizens United overturned and the political process returned to real people, not corporate persons.

Re: Oboma, disrespect?
What if the stars were formed in shape of swastika would it still be our flag?

I'll be happy to answer both; the answers are the same:
It's a silly question.

There are no silly questions; everything is open to consideration. And the answer is no. If a symbol does not contain the correct form it no longer has the same meaning.Lord Jim wrote:I'll be happy to answer both; the answers are the same:

It must be hard, constantly being under the flight path of those 747s that are continually zooming right over your head.
