Or is it a reference to "my sister was married at a hotel in Sausalito"?

The reference to champagne and an open bar is in the singular ("there was" not "there were"), whereas the reference to museums is in the plural.

The reference to champagne and an open bar immediately follows the description of the wedding. It is separated by a paragraph from the reference to museums.

All in all, I take the reference to champagne and an open bar to be part of the description of the wedding, not part of the non-descriptive reference to museums.
