The Eclipse

Post by RayThom »

Well, the eclipse appeared to be pretty thorough. I just came back from outside and I can definitely state that the sun was not visible anywhere I looked. When I woke up this morning it was obvious the sun had returned. No harm... no foul.

For the life of me I can't understand what all the fuss is about. BTW -- the glasses didn't seem to help.

Here's a picture I took from down the block. See, no sun.

WSJ this morning opined that that the stock market could turn from bullish to bearish this fall. Perhaps that might be a catalyst to make more progress removing the Trumpanzee.

There's nothing quite as annoying as the sound of a jackhammer in the basement at 9 a.m. on a Tuesday.

Maybe that's what I'm hearing from the basement?

No, a Trump speech would be more like a sewer backing up.

Is it your conclusion that the sound of a jackhammer in the basement at 9 a.m. on a Tuesday is worse than the sound of a jackhammer in the basement at 8 a.m. on a Tuesday?

I take that as evidence that everyone has their own annoyance peak period and you've discovered yours. You're very self aware. That's an admirable trait, General! Or should I say a general trait, Admiral?

Whatever it is, it is definitely something that I've just commented on.

Scientifically speaking, I would have to hear a jackhammer in the basement at 8 a.m. to make a valid comparison. I suspect it may be equally annoying as the same at 9 a.m. but that is merely conjecture.

This morning, the 8 a.m. hour was not attended by a pneumatic drill at all so is useless even as a control.

In France, a far superior country that I have visited more often than Republicans have conducted lynchings, the jackhammer is called "marteau-piqueur" or "Jaques Hammer"

Why is it that I only think BTO only has 2 hits? Taking Care of Business and the one I've just heard? I once was able to have 3 in mind for a little while but that went away. It occurs to me that there may be more than 3 but that is the max I've been able to hold in my mind at once.

Me listening to the radio when a non TCB BTO song comes on the radio;

Oh Yeah (you ain't seen nothing yet)! What was that other song again?
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm always forgetting that third song, too.

BTW -- much like the Airplane went to Starship, BTO is now touring as BTCVT. (Much better mileage.)

"Let It Ride", "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet", "Takin' Care Of Business", and "Roll On Down the Highway" still receive play on classic-rock stations.

All jackhammers are annoying.

Therefore all non-annoying things are not jackhammers. That is an exactly equivalent statement.

Anything that confirms the second statement therefore confirms the first statement.

A butterfly (a non-jackhammer) is not annoying (unless of course you are a lepidophiliac which seems like a special case and we won't consider it).

Every butterfly that flutters by is therefore proof that a jackhammer is annoying at any time.

You're welcome. I'll get my coat and see myself out.

Now that's a random thought. Impeccable logic, every statement precise and irrefutable. You'll get no argument from me.

BTW -- the cat peed on your coat.

A jackhammer that is not being used is not annoying

Might it be a butterfly when we're not looking?

Unless of course it is not being used in a forest, and there is no-one there to not hear it. That would annoy the crap out of me.

But you can't tell that to kids these days, they don't understand and think they know everything.

Why is it that when you to try fast-forward past the ending credits on a Netflix original content show, (I've experienced this most recently with Ozark, but it happens consistently...) the one thing you're not allowed to fast-forward past is a long list of foreign language credits? (For about a dozen different languages, from French, German and Italian, to Chinese, Japanese, and Korean...) I think they're voice dubbing credits...

Yeah I know, "First World problem"... 8-)

If they're the ending credits why don't you just turn the play off?
