oh well, you lost, we won.
As others have pointed out, we all lost...

The difference is that you're too delusional to realize it...

Accept the election? what other choice do we have? Right now Trump is president, maybe he will not be in the near future. I doubt anyone here wants to take you liberty away, I know I don't.

what else do you see "accepting the election" as entailing? Opposition is part of a democracy, a very important part.

I disagree with part of that statement, LJ — after all, what got Lord Dampnut elected in the first place was the press and the media's willingness to jump on and trumpet from the rooftops his every single tweet and outrageous utterance to the point where anything resembling a logical and reasoned discourse was drowned out by all the ballyhoo and hoopla.

Yes, it is true that Trump is the president (for now), and yes, the press will still report his opinions.  But I fail to see where they have to report each and every one of them.  They should pick and choose and only report the ones that matter.

No, I do not feel I need to die for any one man.  I am of far more value to this country alive and well.
Sorry you don't feel the same way about yourself, and if you are willing to die to support the election of Dumb'old Drumpf I wish you would do so at your earliest opportunity.

Me neither.  And if it comes down to that, you won't see me at all.  If I can stalk a deer and take it down with one shot, I should have no problems with you or people the likes of you — a drugstore cowboy; all hat, no cattle.

Lord Dampnut is already doing all he can to make this be our last election.  Any day now I expect to see him abolish the Electoral College, delete whole sections of the Contitution, dissolve Congress, and start referring to himself as "Trump the Tyrannical, Supreme Emperor of the Free World, and second only to Putin the Puppetmaster".

If anyone's wondering where wes's current obsession with CNN comes from, he's regurgitating his cult leader's obsession...

And Trump's current mania over CNN springs from the entirely accurate and highly newsworthy reporting they did regarding the fact that national security agency heads had included a two page summary of accusations regarding the possibility that the Russians had blackmail info on Trump in national security briefings for Obama and Trump.

Since that report, Trump and his spokesminions (particularly Conway) have come out repeatedly and shamelessly lied about what CNN said and did in an effort to discredit the news organization.

Trump of course despises the whole concept of a free press because it makes it impossible for him to completely control the narrative about himself, which is one of the primary objectives of an authoritarian of his ilk. Since he became a serious candidate ("serious" in the sense that he could win, not of course "serious" in the sense that he had anything serious to offer) a good portion of that free press has been quite understandably dedicating a lot of it time to exposing his lies and bring forward facts about him that conflict with his fantasy narrative, (no small feat when you're talking about trying to keep up with the most prolific liar in the history of modern American politics) and Trump finds this absolutely infuriating.

This is why he's so maniacally obsessed with the press and can't seem to get through more than a few sentences without launching into yet another whining attack on them. Actually, Trump is performing a public service; the more he attacks particular reporters or news organizations, the more you can be sure that they are the ones doing the very best job of exposing truths about him... they are the ones you should be reading or watching if you want genuinely honest and objective reporting about Trump. Any report he refers to as "fake news" you can be pretty sure has really struck at the truth.

If Trump praises the "fairness" of network or reporter, you can be reasonably sure they are in the tank for him, because unquestioning praise and ignoring all his flaws and deceits is the only kind of "reporting" he considers "fair"...

The reason his latest crusade against all the news outlets that cover him responsibly and fairly (it's not their fault that honest coverage results in reporting so much about him that is negative...it's not their fault that an honest story about him begins, "The President told three new falsehoods this morning..." that's all on him) involves him dishonestly condemning them as purveyors of "fake news" goes to what I've said about him before:

The way that he not only lies, but takes it to a whole new level by conducting a full out war against the very concept of truth. More than just trying to get the public to believe his preposterous and brazen lies (he knows that only his most hardcore and devoted followers are going to do that) it's important to him to try and move things to a condition where people will not trust or believe anything they see or hear...If he can't get every one to believe him, he sees getting people not to believe anything as the next best thing...If he could wave a magic wand and simply eliminate every news outlet that reports on him honestly, or somehow compel them to become propagandists for him, he would do so in a heartbeat. But since he can't, (at least not yet) he seeks to at least discredit them.

In other words, he is attempting to undermine the most basic ingredient for a free people to govern itself intelligently; the ability to gain information they can trust so they can make honestly informed decisions.

Because honest information is kryptonite to Donald Trump, and he knows it.

ETA:

One of the things he's particularly got a burr up his ass about lately, is all the accurate press coverage there has been of all the stumbles and misfires, and backstabbing that has accompanied the roll out of his administration...

In that weird, rambling display today, he actually called his not-ready-for-primetime administration a "finely tuned machine"... :loon

He also blamed the press for creating a bad atmosphere for relations between the US and Russia... :loon :loon :loon

Apparently he hates accurate reporting about Russia almost as much as he hates accurate reporting about himself...

Gee, I wonder why that is?

ETA II:

BTW, in all of wes's un-American sputtering about how he would respond to the legal and Constitutional removal of Trump from office with lawless violence, did anyone happen to see an answer to this:
I admit it's tough to take a guy seriously who can't work up a single word of criticism for a man who can find the time to spend two days savaging a Broadway play, but can't manage a single cross word for a country that's put a spy ship right off our shore, buzzes a US naval vessel on the high seas, and blatantly violates an arms agreement signed with this country...

Do you find absolutely nothing puzzling or worrisome about that wes? A hostile power gives us the finger all over the globe, and the American President can't come up with even a single word of remonstration about it?
I thought not...

My big puzzlement from our President's press conference yesterday is his description of the fired retired general as 'just doing his job. I didn't tell him to do it, but if he hadn't done it, I would have told him to."

Huh? The conversations with the Russian ambassador happened after the election and before Jan 20th.

Next, I am awed by our President's view of the power of the press. One: the news media made the President fire the guy. Two: He can't meet with members of Congress until a reporter sets up the meeting.

Wow!
