trump is serious!!!!!
Re: trump is serious!!!!!
The fact of the matter is that while the economy certainly isn't roaring, all the indicators (GDP, unemployment, job creation, consumer confidence, etc.) show that it's chugging along reasonably well...(Just as it was in the last few months of the Obama Administration)...
A normal President just six months into their Presidency, with economic numbers like we have today, could probably expect to have an approval rating somewhere in the mid 50s...
But of course Trump is such an abnormal President, the economy isn't helping his popularity much...
However, since he built the case for his election on his ability to bring economic improvement, an economic downturn could hurt his approval rating substantially...
Probably drop it from the mid 30s to the mid 20s...
Trump is now already at the job approval level that a normal President could expect to be at with a weak economy...

TRUMP IS SERIOUS!!!!!

With this administration, it's become newsworthy when a senior advisor actually acknowledges the truth of an established fact:
He's dropped between 15 and 23 points since the election among all his key demographic support groups; there ain't nothin' "slight" about that....
http://www.newsweek.com/trumps-support- ... unk-646668Kellyanne Conway admits Trump’s approval rating is down
WASHINGTON – Kellyanne Conway made a rare admission Sunday for a member of the Trump administration – the president’s poll numbers have taken a hit.
“His approval rating among Republicans, conservatives and Trump voters is down slightly. [actually it's more than slightly; she couldn't bring herself to tell the whole truth] It needs to go up,” Conway told ABC’s “This Week.”
Trump has dismissed negative polling in the past as “fake” and said the media surveys cannot be trusted.
http://www.newsweek.com/trumps-support- ... unk-646668But even among white, non-college voters—the folks often credited with handing Trump the presidency—the president's approval rating was underwater. Just 43 percent of that demographic approved of Trump's job performance while 50 percent disapproved. In June, 53 percent of white voters without a college degree approved of the president. In the 2016 election, meanwhile, 66 percent of whites with no college degree voted for Trump, according to exit polls.
The survey was chock full of bad news for the former reality TV star turned most powerful man on Earth amid an ongoing investigation into his ties to Russia and a White House that has largely been defined by chaos and confusion. It also hasn't helped that Trump has fired or lost key staffers at a stupendous clip, including the recent departure of former communications director Anthony Scaramucci after just ten days.
"It's hard to pick what is the most alarming number in the troubling trail of new lows for President Donald Trump," said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University poll in a statement. "Profound embarrassment over his performance in office and deepening concern over his level-headedness have to raise the biggest red flags. The daily drip drip of missteps and firings and discord are generating a tidal wave of bad polling numbers."
Even among white, male voters—62 percent of whom voted for Trump in November, according to exit polls—were split on Trump. Forty-seven percent of white men approved of the job Trump is doing while 48 percent disapproved, according to Quinnipiac. White women—52 percent of whom voted for Trump—disapproved of the president's job performance by a large margin, 64 percent to 31 percent. The Quinnipiac poll interviewed 1,125 voters from July 27 through August 1. It had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.4 percentage points.
He's dropped between 15 and 23 points since the election among all his key demographic support groups; there ain't nothin' "slight" about that....

Unemployment rate peaked in 2009 and has been steadily coming down ever since. It has even continued to come down in the first six months of Trump's presidency. I wish I could remember what happened in 2009. It will come to me, I am sure, despite my short term memory problems.

ETA - this was a response to LJ's comment earlier about the last few months of Obama: in fact unemployment dropped steadily throughout Obama's administration. One of the many many many differences between LJ and his fellow Repblicans is that he will acknowledge this and many of them never will.

WASHINGTON — Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's colleagues are largely rallying around the him amid the ongoing attacks from President Donald Trump.
The intra-party spat is forcing Republicans to take sides in a dispute that many members say is counter-productive and pointless. And it's further threatening an uneasy alliance between the White House and the Republican-led Congress that has frayed over a stalled agenda.
Probably not a really good idea for Il Boobce to pick a fight with the Republican Leader of the Senate...
Afterall, he's going to need his help to fend off Removal during his Impeachment Trial....
ETA:
I wouldn't advise him to start attacking John Roberts either...

ALL THIS IS FAKE NEWS! ! ! Everybody knows, nobody knows Abe Lincoln was a Republican. Everybody knows Black Jack Pershing dipped bullets in pig blood and stopped Muslim terroism in the Philippines for the next 35 years. You can learn alot from history. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were winners. Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee were losers. I like winners. There was a big civil war battle fought right on my golf course--the sign out front says so. And I own the biggest winery.

The Frank Bruni column in the NY Times Friday said the POTUS press conference Thursday amounted to a resignation.

One comment I liked was that Trump is now a lame duck president--no support from the GOP in congress. Bruni said it this way: Most presidents become a lame duck in their last xis months in office. Trump did it in his first six--but he always said he was a quick learner.

Be fair to the man. He had trouble with his heels (bone spurs) back in his college days when he was learning to spell and was excused classes because of them. He was out the day they did heal/heel/he'll. But he was there the day they did covfefe and got an A.

I think she may have left out a few things, (like the public rebukes he received from the head of the BSA and the chief of the Long Island police department for the things he said at their events, and his threats against Mueller, and his efforts to discredit him.) but that's pretty comprehensive...
Trying to keep track of all of the self-inflicted wounds, fuck-ups, outrageousness, lies, failures and chaos that emanates from our so-called President is a monumental task....
