I keep thinking I'll get in on the ground floor of the Camden renaissance that's (perpetually) just around the corner. I had once considered retiring in Newark (seriously -- Ironbound!), but if they do it right I think I might stick it out here.

For a renaissance you have to find an area with lots of warehouse space and few people in the area. It worked for Jersey City and Hoboken, not so much for Newark where many of the neighborhoods were already full of people. Since you're waiting for the Camden renaissance, you can wait for the one in Paterson as well; I do a lot of work in Passaic county and it is amazing how they let that city go to pot as well.

When people in Passaic County ask me what Camden is like, I tell them, "It's like Paterson, but without the frills."

And Paterson is like Camden without the aquarium and the Battleship New Jersey. :ok

Camden is a up and coming
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”
