I got that, Sean, which is precisely why I made the comment. No one is prepared to condemn alice for saying she would have gone after the money, because we all (more or less) have some sense of her and are fairly certain that she's not a grasping, spiteful bitch. And yet for that very same desire for some of the money, some here had no problem rushing to condemn the ex-Mrs. Page.
There is simply no factual basis for judging one differently than the other. If you're not prepared to condemn alice, that just might be a hint that you shouldn't be so quick to condemn the ex-Mrs. Page, at least without hearing an account of the situation that isn't so obviously skewed
Thank you
Scooter.
That's the point I was trying to make.
I wasn't trying to put myself up as the shining light for the 'other side', but just trying to illustrate that there
is always 'another side'.
And even for my own story, as I said somewhere in my previous rant, people were still only hearing 'my side', and therefore it's still a biased version of events .
(although, of course, my side is 'right'!!!!
)
I think the one version that was presented throughout all the media outlets very obviously went out of its way to present one 'side', and that was 'side' presented from an extremely sympathetic and emotional angle. It was 'one eyed' reporting, and very deliberately written in a way guaranteed to evoke the type of emotions and response that it got here.
Even when it was acknowledged that her 'side' had not been heard, the comments that were made in response continued to very much assume that she was 'at fault', a greedy and selfish bitch, and her 'side' would be 'not appealing'.
I just felt that people were being very, very judgemental. But from the continued responses, I don't think the majority really wants to be anything else, on an issue like this.
So this is probably one of those issues where people just agree to disagree and maintain the stance they want to keep.
Group hug...

... and yes, I've discovered the smilies....

Having known alice for quite a few years this is a totally incorrect statement. If anything she is one of the most giving persons I know, especially to her children (and not in the "spoiling" way).
I can only wish she could be "righted" for all the wrongs done
Thank you so much. I was really, really touched when I read that.
I appreciate you coming to my defence here.
And I can't ever adequately put into words how grateful I've been for your wise counsel and support over these years.
BTW: I didn't mean to create a controversy and then disappear. I was off work a couple of days the other week with the 'flu' and had more spare time to sit at the computer and get involved. I can't usually post from my work and usually 'visit' late in the evening when I'm often too tired to post anything. I'm off today (not 'flu' related - yayyy!!) so finally got a chance to add something.
