Not paid any attention to Mr Glandular Secretions before this incident.

He’s a just a couple years behind Kanye West as far as believing your own hype to the point you destroy everything that made you great in the first place.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

yeah, I just heard this.....

I was inclined to admire musk, for a while....., in a franklinian kinda way....

maybe he gave away his patents because they were already common Chinese knowledge?

this was a "what the hell" moment tho....

"has anyone seen my marbles?"

Three related limericks, from Limericking:
  • 1.
    As efforts at rescue proceeded,
    Mr. Musk, CEO, interceded,
    Traversing the sky
    To arrive in Chiang Rai
With a weird submarine no one needed.

    2.
    One rescuer chose to opine
    On Musk’s ill-considered design.
    His comments were fair;
    The tech billionaire
Then called him a pedo online.

    3.
The burden of proof works inversely
    For libel in Britain, perversely.
    And so Mr Musk
    may find being brusque
    has troubled his wallet adversely.
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.

I don't know much about Musk - don't use Paypal, don't drive a Tesla. It seems to me idiotic that TSLA has a higher market capitalization than GM.

When Musk first jumped in with an offer to help I was for it. Any idea with a fractional chance of working was worth pursuing - with the race against time caused by the likelihood of further rain, the deteriorating air quality, the boys' medical condition etc. it seemed worth going down all avenues in parallel hoping one might work. When I first saw the video of the test run I thought maybe I had misunderstood the nature of the tunnel because in my limited caving experience, a six foot cigar tube is going nowhere unless it bends in at least three places like a human body. Nevertheless, points for trying.

But his reaction to rejection by the Thai official and then insulting someone who actually did help has exposed him for the shallow ignoramus that he is; and is further proof, if we needed it, that possession of wealth is no guarantee of desirable personal qualities.

Update. In Britain they issue an "Honours List" twice a year: at New Year and on the Queen's birthday. Often the list is crowded with civil servants and politicians who just did their jobs; but every now and then someone who did something extraordinary is honoured. The two British cave divers who led the successful efforts to find those boys have each been awarded the George Medal which is more or less the civilian equivalent of the Victoria Cross. I thoroughly approve.
