I really don't think the group is going to suddenly collapse when Phelps dies...
If you listen to these people being interviewed it seems to be more about their apocalyptic "vengeful God" philosophy than about him personally...
He already seems to be pretty removed from the day to day operation of the group...
I really think at this point it's Shirley who holds it together; (also most of these folks are related to each other in one way or another, which is another factor that probably tends to hold them together) I suspect that what will happen is that after the old man dies she will continue to preside over a smaller and smaller group that will continue to atrophy but go on for a while.
