Name That Movie!
Re: Name That Movie!
Not at all, just a lighter taste - full flavor kicks my ass.
They call them Marlboro Gold now because apparently people are too stupid to know that 'light' doesn't mean 'less deadly'.

I thought they were marketed as a healthier alternative--like low tar cigarettes were.
ETA: If I'm not mistaken, I think Phillip Morris lost (or settled) a lawsuit claiming these deceptive marketing practices. Personally I haven't seen the evidence, but I do recall low tar cigarettes being promoted as the healthier alternative (and Old Gold saying their cigarettes/tobacco were "made by real tobacco men, not medicine men", which makes me think the healthier promotions for some cigarettes did occur in the past. As I have said many times in the past, I do not buy that people were really deceived into believing that cigarettes were healthy (or even not unhealthy), they just wanted to justify their smoking by claiming to have been so-convinced.

Another movie my brother watched dozens of times such that I know it nearly by heart.

I can never hear The Ride of the Valkyries without thinking of this:
Some of Bob Duval's best work...he really nailed that character...

Re: Name That Movie!
That and The Great Santini were my favorite Duvall performances; he could portray those over the top characters without making them into jokes.

Regardless, I cannot recall that sucking in the noxious fumes from burning, chemically soaked, vegetable matter, ever tasting "lighter" or being "less deadly" than any other brand of drug delivery systems out there.Big RR... I thought they were marketed as a healthier alternative--like low tar cigarettes were.
I chain smoked for ten years -- mostly Lucky Strike -- because I craved the addictive nicotine. I never tried fooling myself thinking my brand of cancer sticks were more tasty or less harmful than some other brand. I'm just hoping that I quit before it caused any problems with cancer. Over 40 years now and no signs of cancer... yet.

He did that in Network too....Big RR wrote:That and The Great Santini were my favorite Duvall performances; he could portray those over the top characters without making them into jokes.
My least favorite Duvall movie is also my least favorite Clint Eastwood movie; (least favorite Eastwood western anyway; I'm not a big fan of his orangutan movies either) Joe Kidd...that was a real snoozer...
You'd think that with those two you'd have some really good chemistry, but they both looked like they were sleep walking through the movie...I guess you have to blame the director for not getting more out of two guys that talented...

Just making sure my movie quote doesn't get lost in the shuffle.BoSoxGal wrote:Trying to forget someone you love is like trying to remember someone you have never met.

Nope, but from what I know of that movie (I've never seen it) and the content of the quote, it's a good guess.

Nope.
Here's a hint that will probably give it away, but that's ok.
I posted the movie quote to honor recently departed 'royalty'.
