Not necessarily. I search for Unread posts and that shows a new subject that wesw created. I don't have to read it to know that it's there.

I don't generally use the search for unread posts feature, but even without that the subject line for a new OP by someone you have on ignore still appears on the screen...(just not the content...)

Yes but you have to click on something.... Politics or Hardware or whatever.... and sure you'll notice a new thread.

I rarely click on those unless I'm adding a new thread. Otherwise it's Unread Posts and Active Topics that make the most sense.
