Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?
I can't pretend to know all the complexities of French politics, but in terms of the larger issues at stake, I'm tremendously grateful for Macron's win - it's best for the world, and a big boost to MY mental health to see Le Pen crushed and to realize that 'Liberté égalité fraternité' is still deeply cherished. I'm not terribly excited about Macron and clearly the whole election reflects a major shift in the French political landscape, but at least the electorate there saw a very clear difference between the two evils on offer.
Of course it's true that the majority of American voters saw a clear difference, too; but had we done so by such a wide margin as the French, we wouldn't have ended up with the Drumpffuhrer, electoral college aside.
I'd say that likely the biggest difference between them and us in these two elections is that they vote on Sunday and they turn out to vote.
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

France has finally found a way to fight off the Nazis without any outside help.
With zero assistance from Britain or the United States, France has managed to stop Nazis coming to power and taking over the country.
Armed with nothing more than a former investment banker and a slick PR operation, the brave French have sent the Nazi’s packing with their tails between their legs.
Political commentator Simon Williams told us, “I think Russia maybe got a bit confused about their role in the whole ‘allies’ thing, but thankfully their hackers were both late and a bit incompetent.
“But hats off to the French, a resistance without intervention from the allies that involves a trip to the polling booth seems to have done the trick.
“Well, apart from the 11 million people in France that voted to put the Nazis in charge, obviously.”
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”
