If the USA adopts $1 coins, millions of vending machines, self-check out stands, and such would have to be modified.

This would cost $$$.

Look for a lot of push back from those involved.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Many coin-op machines are already prepared, or can be readily and easily modified.  I remember pinball machines and vending machines that were set up to accept "SBA (Susan B. Anthony) dollars", and others that proclaimed that they accepted $5, $10, and $20 bills and that change would be given in dollar coins.
