Weiner tweets his wanger
Re: Weiner tweets his wanger
Unless I have missed something this is so hypocritical. There have been politicians in the party that have done much worse things than this guy, but they did not have to resign. I suspect that he just had fewer friends and allies in congress.
Soon, I’ll post my farewell message. The end is starting to get close. There are many misconceptions about me, and before I go, to live with my ancestors on the steppes, I want to set the record straight.
Re: Weiner tweets his wanger
It has been widely reported that Weiner had very few friends in Congress. Apparently, he was, as some pundit recently put it, "pretty much a jerk".
But if we want to talk hypocrisy, what about Vitter? Why is it that a guy who stupidly sent lascivious pictures of himself around the internet, but did not commit adultery and committed no crime, is forced to resign; but a guy who paid for sex with prostitutes, did commit adultery, and did commit at least one crime is still a sitting Senator?

Reason is valuable only when it performs against the wordless physical background of the universe.

Reporting on worldwide atrocities: There is a limit to what one can "care" about, and in my opinion the level of care & concern is loosely related to how directly or remotely one is affected by the facts.
People will cry uncontrollably when a neighbor's dog is run over in the street. But tell them the Hutu's and Tutsi's are killing each other in droves and they turn the page. Who cares? Millions dying in the Congo? Who cares? More importantly, what difference does it make if I care?
In spite of the fact that I am on every "do not call" list that I can think of, I constantly get solicitations by phone and mail and email for "worthy" charities - in addition to the Catholic charities that I give to and my Church, which does a lot of community outreach. If I gave $5 to every worthy charity that figuratively beats on my door, I'd be in a breadline myself.
Who can be bothered worrying about the people in some god-forsaken country on the other side of the globe? There is nothing I can do about it, and I think most Americans agree, there is nothing significant that even our government ought to do about it - other than diplomatically.
The list of oppressors committing atrocities against others around the globe is endless. Most of it is governing classes (and the local military/police establishment) exploiting the masses. And the worst offenders are in the U.N. calling us "terrorists" for trying to promote representative democracies in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Fuck 'em.
Fuck everybody.

Charitable organizations are exempt from the provisions of the "do not call" laws...In spite of the fact that I am on every "do not call" list that I can think of, I constantly get solicitations by phone and mail and email for "worthy" charities -
As are political solicitations...
(Gee, I wonder why Congress would exempt political organizations....that's a real poser....

Re: Weiner tweets his wanger
The fact that you are often solicited by charitable organizations could be due to the fact that you've donated to charities in the past.Lord Jim wrote:Charitable organizations are exempt from the provisions of the "do not call" laws...In spite of the fact that I am on every "do not call" list that I can think of, I constantly get solicitations by phone and mail and email for "worthy" charities -

One thing that really bugs me is that if you donate $50.00 to a charity, they will spend $150.00 to try to get you to donate more.

Ha tell me about it! We sponsor a little girl in Swaziland. Sethu her name is she's now 14, doing well and attending school at last. If I said "yes" every time the buggers had contacted me about sponsoring another child, I'd now own every kid under the age of 18 in the bloody country.

You'd have to fight Brad and Angelina for them...

Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?
Re: Weiner tweets his wanger
Well Andrew the reason that Vitter was returned the senate is that a consensus has developed among Christians in my area that the world has changed. From what I have been able gather from my conservative and Christian friends is that the devil has grown so strong in the world that a Christian can not help but sin and if the devil has his way at the worse possible time. (I know that is going to sound like superstition to you but that is what people believe.) They believe if we kick-out every conservative Christian that sins conservatives Christians will have no representation. It was just a pragmatic decision by Christians more conservative than myself.Andrew D wrote:It has been widely reported that Weiner had very few friends in Congress. Conservatives have their advantages and disadvantages it is all in the balance that makes the difference. I don’t want the country to go too far to the left or the right.
