Brad who?

Post by Gob »

A World War II veteran invited to advise a group of actors about life in a tank unit during the D-Day landings had no idea he would rub shoulders with Hollywood royalty.

Peter Comfort, 90, from Kent, found himself on set with Brad Pitt - but did not know who the A-list star was.

"He came straight up to me shook my hand," he said.

"I said, 'Mr Pitt until last night I didn't know what you looked like until I googled you'."

He told the crew the last film he saw was the 1957 World War II movie - The Bridge on the River Kwai.

"They all fell about laughing," he said.

Mr Comfort was asked by the Light Dragoons Regimental Association to advise on the set of Brad Pitt's war movie Fury, which is being filmed in the UK,

During the war, he served with the 13th/18th Royal Hussars(QMO), a tank regiment at the forefront of the D-Day landings in 1944.

Mr Comfort, from Ripple, near Dover said Brad Pitt asked whether he was petrified.

"You weren't petrified, you were doing a job," he said.

"And I did emphasise the fact that you were 21 and you were willing to have a go.

"They were the enemy. They were trying to kill you and you did likewise."

Mr Comfort said he was honoured to have met the actor and is considering taking up an invitation to attend the premier of Fury when it is released.
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”

It's positively bizarre. We idolize people whose "profession" is pretending to be other people.

Nutso.
