Funny, you's don't look 68 but congrats anyway!

Re: Finally Getting A Little Indian Summer...
Hardy har har....
I've already got chicken quarters marinating in an Italian dressing Dijon mustard marinade, so that will be tonight's dinner...(with a salad, some nice bread and corn on the cob; and maybe baked beans or mac and cheese)
Then tomorrow I'm thinking we'll go a little heavier; porter house steaks, grilled portabello mushrooms, ratatouille, and baked potato...
And then light on Sunday; lamb shish kabob, and rice pilaf...
(I may also pick up big bag of oysters for snacks; those are great grilled...)
And I think I'll get some key lime pie, strawberry shortcake and sherbert for desserts...
Well, I'd love to stay and kvetch, but I have shopping to do...

Oh go for the ribeyes, LJ -- much better flavor than the porterhouse. And make a little gorgonzola compound butter to put on them after they come off the grill (equal parts good butter and chopped gorgonzola, and I add a dash of finely chopped fresh herbs).

Re: Finally Getting A Little Indian Summer...
Speaking of 'Indian Summer', it would be better described as San Francisco Summer, since it's the only time it gets close to 80 degrees up there.
It lasts about three weeks if you're lucky.

Yeah, the cheaper the steak, the more wine required...Ribeye nothing. A good rump steak and 6 bottles of wine please Kristina (LJ might want one)
(Sort of like the old "closing time" attractiveness joke...)
Guin:
I had forgotten about the wonderful Gorgonzola ribeye sauce recipe you posted before; this looks like an excellent time to try it...(I can put the porterhouses in the freezer; it's not like they'll go to waste)
Could you possibly repost that?

Grilled Ribeye Steak with Onion Blue Cheese Sauce
Prep Time: 5 Minutes Cook Time: 15 Minutes Difficulty: Easy Servings: 2
Ingredients
2 whole Ribeye Steaks
2 Tablespoons Butter
Salt
Pepper
4 Tablespoons Butter
1 whole Very Large Yellow Onion, Sliced
1 cup Heavy Cream
½ cups Crumbled Blue Cheese
Preparation Instructions
Salt and pepper both sides of the steaks. Grill in 2 tablespoons butter until medium rare.
Saute onions in 4 tablespoons butter over high heat. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes, or until dark and caramelized. Reduce heat to simmer and pour in cream. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes, or until reduced by half. Stir in blue cheese until melted. Serve steaks on generous portion of sauce.
Faint.
(I put the sauce on top, not under, but either way works)

Shouldn't you eat the steak before you faint?

Re: Finally Getting A Little Indian Summer...
You pretty much faint after the first bite, it's so good.
I was never a gas grill fan, but I bought one a couple of years ago and love it. I'm still working on how to grill some things but I've got down pat: ribeyes, skirt steak (another huge fave, with a lime/soy/brown sugar marinade), chicken thighs and shrimps on a stick. That the summery season continues to roll on means I will be grilling again this weekend - woohooooo!

Re: Finally Getting A Little Indian Summer...
Oh man, just came in from having my coffee and reading the papers in the yard ; it's already 67 degrees at 9:30...(I probably could have done without reading the news sections of The Times and The Chron...with all the posturing over the shutdown, the news is so depressing at the moment that it's a major buzz kill)
The lad is up and I'm going to take him and the pooches over to the playground, (we live in a great location for having kids; we've got the entrance to Pine Lake Park/ Stern Grove just a block and a half away, a really nice fully loaded playground with swings, slides, jungle gyms, teeter totters etc. just three blocks away, the zoo is about 12 blocks away, and the beach is only another block past that)
His sister is still in the sack, ever since she became a teenager she really likes to sleep in on the weekends...(I explained to Jimmy that teenagers need a lot of sleep, and he asked me if he would be a teenager...I told him he would, but that we're in no hurry to get there...
... Kelly's working till about 2 today...she's gotten a gig as a leasing agent for a high end property management company in town, so she puts some time in on the weekends. That makes me Mr. Mom on Saturdays... )
After we get back from the playground, if Her Royal Highness has finally arisen, we're going to go to a really nice breakfast place near here, (They have like 20 different kinds of omelettes, and a dozen different pancake options) and then we're taking the hounds over to Petco to get their Halloween costumes...
Yeah, go ahead and give me me "the business", the dogs get Halloween costumes...in fact tomorrow they're going to a doggie Halloween party...On the first Sunday of the month (Saturdays during the Summer when the Stern Grove free concert series is going on) there's a Chihuahua Meet-up at Pine Lake Park...
We don't go every month but it's really cute; there's usually a couple of hundred little guys there...(technically it's supposed to be just for Chihauhuas but other little fellows like Yorkies, etc. are welcome too) and at the October meet-up a lot of them come in Halloween costumes...(My favorite is a kind of flaky lady who owns a gift shop in the Haight who brings her two pups in punk rocker get-ups)
Then after that I figure we'll hit the beach for a while then come home for a little siesta and then it will be time to fire up the 'cue...(and the blender...in fact I may mix up a pitcher of frozen Mai Tais before the siesta...
)
I'll report back on how that bleu cheese sauce works out, but I can't imagine it being anything other then absolutely delicious...

I've never been either Guin, but 2 years ago Roman Craig bought me a really nice one as a birthday present that's huge, and has a lot of bells and whistles, (You can cook a whole meal on the thing, and I really like the temperature control) so I rarely use my old Webber charcoal grill anymore...(plus it's a helluva lot less hassle, especially if you're cooking a lot of food)I was never a gas grill fan, but I bought one a couple of years ago and love it.

If Guin & @W faint, I hope to be there to eat the rest of their steaks.

Husband of a friend plays in a band called "Pack of Chihuahuas" You guys should hire them for one of your meets.
Re: Finally Getting A Little Indian Summer...
Guin, I neglected to report back on our experience with your bleu cheese sauce...

I doubled the recipe, (we had four good sized ribeyes and one hamburger to cover...yeah I know, but the lad prefers hamburger...I did too when I was his age; he'll grow out of it)
I thought because the sauce was so rich that rather than have the olive oil sauteed ratatouille that steamed asparagus would be a better veggie choice, and that worked great...
