The 'bicycle face' article gave me an idea. I recalled that back when i was first learning about professional bike racing, in the day of Merckx and Sean Kelly, a lot of the cycling press was about how the essence of the great tours and early season classics was to learn how to suffer; how their agony was an offering to the fans.
