do we need a brain surgeon?

Post by wesw »

is there any chance that ben carson can win the republican nomination? I have been very impressed with what he has said. I don t find any of the other probable candidates, on either side, appealing.

Wes, when considering who we should nominate (I say "we" when referring to the GOP, as a life-long Republican) I have two criteria that they must meet:

1. That they have a realistic chance of beating Hillary Clinton

2.That their name isn't Rand Paul

While the doctor meets criteria number two, I seriously doubt whether a complete political novice identified primarily with conservative "social issues" could meet criteria number one. (We've living with the reality of having a President with almost no significant political experience. Why would we want one with absolutely no experience?)

I believe we should nominate either a governor or a former governor. I don't believe that any of the possibilities considering a run who are on The Hill, (with the possible exception of Paul Ryan ) would have a snowball's chance in hell of beating Her Royal Clintoness...

A candidate who can beat Hillary will also need to be able to raise not just boatloads of cash, but air craft carrier sized boat loads of cash to compete with the billion plus that she's sure to raise. And they will also have to have the gravitas and toughness to be able to withstand the low road ruthless smear tactics that will be coming their way in abundance from Team Clinton.

If politics ain't bean bag, running against The Clinton Machine is the ain't bean baggiest of all. Just ask Bob Dole.

My first choice would be Jeb Bush.

while jeb bush would be a reasonable choice to face Hilary, I don t want to continue either dynasty.
dr carson has impressed me with his depth of thought on foreign policy. I also don t think he could be successfully labeled as an uncle tom, he is no allen keyes (sp) . I think any smear tactics would backfire bigtime with black voters.

jim we began this great experiment with novices. I believe we need a new beginning if we are to remain one nation. I think we had better take what is happening around st Louis very seriously, it has the potential to erupt into revolution.

give him a listen, then give it some thought...

:o

That's a bit rough, LJ. Isn't it illegal?
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

I use the edit button all the time to correct mistakes. if I have an addition I re-post. don t want anyone to miss a post. I haven t gone over two in a row since I said I wouldn t.

eta I used the edit button to amend1/3 to 2/3 and to add this, but now I m afraid you ll miss it.

I think you ll have settle for me trying to be nicer. it s just my style to add a thought by re posting. as I said I ll try to limit it.

Wes, if you use as a rule of thumb that you edit the post rather than add a new one if no one else has posted, (unless it's been a little while, or you've got something new; like an article you've copied and posted) there's no way anyone can miss what you've added because your post is still the most recent one.

well, sometimes I do it for effect. like with the drinking abuse drug thread.

I said. I think its a muslim plot...

then I posted , ... sherrya law

much funnier in two posts

but I get your point about not missing it. its different at car talk because they don t show you the people who posted while you were writing when you press submit, like they do here. I ll keep it in mind.

Wes, once in a while for effect is fine ...(I do that too)

And everybody here sometimes has two or three posts in a row from time to time when they have fairly long amounts of content making multiple points...

But not on a regular basis when each post is only one sentence long...that just makes things cluttered and causes unneeded additional scrolling..

You can imagine what the place would look like if everybody were doing this...

Pretty soon it would be nearly impossible to follow a discussion, or have any meaningful dialog...

I sometimes have pretty long posts; I'm sure I've had some that were over 100 sentences long...

Imagine if I split that into 100 posts... 8-)
