New Year's Resolutions

Post by BoSoxGal »

A colleague who is a former pastor/now social worker told me today to consider my current experience as a dying of one life followed by the the resurrection into another - I liked that analogy.

My last day as a public servant is tomorrow. I was a good one, but was ultimately turned off by the conservative, old boy politics and the way the job was eating up my life.

My new year's resolution is work-life balance and lots of heart-healthy hiking in the mountains of Montana with my dogs! :ok

Are you resolving not to make any resolutions? :shrug ;)

Just to clarify, the thread is intended to be a place for others to share their resolutions, if they wish. 'They' say that if you share a goal for behavior modification with others, it's more likely that you will succeed in achieving that goal.

I shall continue to treat those who understand, to things I say but don't understand. I will not fear being misunderstood by people who misunderstand everything I say and blame it on me. In some way I will help those who need it the most and also help some others just because it feels good. When someone explains my character with a horoscopic chart I will forgive her or him. If I insult someone without knowing it, I'll have the pleasure of not knowing it. I will always wish the best for everyone, including people I don't think I care much about, and I hope they will have a good life but far away in the distance from mine.

I pledge to own a can of lemon pledge and defend its power over my furniture. I will continue to brush my teeth three times per day and floss twice even when I'm tired and don't feel like it. I will continue to spend a certain amount of money on things that I and others enjoy - not forgetting that's the reason I saved money in the first place. I'll stop commenting on rubato when he finally realizes he is a shit disturber most of the time who plays hurt but not really a bad guy, honest I am.

If either Steve or quad ever has the balls to show up here, I will treat each of them with the lack of respect they deserve.... and last but not least... I will continue to post thoughts that will confuse people who aren't in the same room with me.

There's much more I can say, but I will continue to keep quiet about myself and my private life because it certainly affects the way I am treated here. Not necessarily better or worse.

In closing, there is not one person here that I think is not genuine. Everyone is something special. Some are more special than others and none are less special than me.

Have a Jolly New Year.....

I liked this, except that last bit - in my opinion it should be, 'All are special and none are more special than me'.

But really, that was a great post, Joe Guy. :ok

We all here are children of the Universe, all equally wonderful in our own ways. We should be kind to one another whenever possible, and always seek to turn the other cheek.

Happy New Year to each and every one of you; you all have my sincerest wishes for good things and much love in 2015!

Volume 2 must be published in early 2015 so I can move on to my new book on the General Lyon ship disaster (March 30 1865). I have to lose weight - it got found easily enough. Must be easy to lose it because I misplace all else. Also today will definitely see the back of this hangover - "never again"
