Beating on the Trump....

Donald Trump piñatas popular in Mexico

The reaction to Donald Trump's disparaging remarks about Mexicans has been fast and furious. Now Mexicans will be able to whack him upside the head.

Trump piñatas are quite the rage in Mexico, where businessman Dalton Ramirez is selling the popular candy-filled characters in the image of Trump, complete with a very big mouth and a dollop of bright yellow hair.

"This piñata especially is the one everyone wants to break," Ramirez said in the northern city of Reynosa.

Ramirez's remarks are tame compared to the outcry from Mexican celebrities and politicians.

Former President Felipe Calderone called Trump a "hypocrite."

A newspaper cartoon turned Trump's elaborate comb-over into a swastika. Fher Olvera, of the popular Mexican rock band Mana also invoked the Nazi party.

"I haven't heard a speech so violent and so filled with hate since Hitler," Olvera said last week in Los Angeles.

Trump's incendiary comments came during his June 16 speech in New York announcing he was running for his president.

Among other diatribes, the billionaire ranted that he would build "a great wall" along the southern border and make Mexico pay for it. He decried immigrants as rapists and criminals.

"If you look up imbecile in the dictionary, you'll see it's a synonym of Trump," news anchor Joaquin Lopez-Doriz of Televisa, a key shareholder of Univision, which announced last week that it would not broadcast the Miss Universe pageant, which Trump co-owns.

Trump responded by banning all Univision employees from one of his golf courses.

THIS BEGS THE QUESTION...

... what is "The Donald" piñata filled with? I'm not sure if I'd want to start whacking this nasty piece of papier-mâché with a stick.

Thank God he's a Republican. My fellow Americans, our long national nightmare is over. It will just depend on how long it takes for all the gas to dissipate from its hollow shell. I'll give him a week, two at the most.

Sadly, David Letterman quit show business one presidential election cycle too soon.
