LSD Lite

Post by dales »

Silicon Valley is known as the hub of innovation, at the forefront of new discoveries and technological development. It's an industry offering clout and prestige to the most visionary, and it churns out millionaires every day. It literally pays to be one step ahead of technology.

To stay ahead of the curve, some workers are resorting to a stimulant to push them to build bigger and better things — and it's not caffeine.

As Rolling Stone is reporting, some tech workers are utilizing a different sort of drug to tap into their creative flow: LSD.

Users are consuming about ten micrograms of a normal dose size — called a microdose — which is an amount big enough "to feel a little bit of energy lift, a little bit of insight, but not so much that you are tripping," according to Rick Doblin, founder and executive director of the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies.

Though the idea of microdosing is rooted in the work of a 1930s Swiss chemist named Albert Hofmann, it was introduced in to the public in the modern age in 2011 by a Menlo Park psychologist named James Fadiman in a book called "The Psychedelic Explorer's Guide." Fadiman says this practice happens all over, but is more commonplace in the Bay Area, where "übersmart twentysomething" employ LSD to be more alert, resourceful, and creative with their problem solving.

Along the coast you'll hear them boast
About a light they say that shines so clear.
So raise your glass, we'll drink a toast
To the little man who sells you thrills along the pier

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

SO THAT EXPLAINS IT

Microdoses? Silly me. I used to take the whole blotter all at once. No wonder I got so little accomplished for those next 24 hours. However, I once was nearly convinced that I was a lemon and needed to go back into the refrigerator. Ah, those were the day... I think. Or maybe my whole life has been a huge flashback.

Ya know, that part of my misspent youth I would go back and do again the same way every time.

Some things are pretty amazing on acid.

Never got to try the stuff. Is midlife too late?

No, please to remember "set" and "setting".

I last indulged in 2007 when I was in my mid fifties.

My Psychopharmacology professor and I had some illuminating discussions concerning the use and misuse of the substance.

Some of my Master Thesis included early research with LSD and treatment of alcoholism.

well, mid life is too late for me, and would definitely discourage you, bigsky, from tripping.

I don t regret my experiences, I think I was 31 the last time, but I ve had my fun.

if you are not in a good place, in any sense of the words, tripping is not a good idea IMHO

I never did get to try any good mushrooms, I don t know how I missed out because they were around, not easy to get tho ..., I wouldn t mind trying them....

I can (italics) tell you that 1/4 hit enhances acuity on the pool table, at least anecdotally and temporarily

Psilocybin has a lethal dose. Worth remembering. But they were pretty available in the NW in the 70s. Often preserved in honey.

But among the three, Psilocybin, LSD, and Mescaline I would use the latter again, every time. We had peyote cactus a few times and other than the rather amazingly bad taste* and the retching (lessened if you cleaned the cactus carefully) it was the most interesting and least draining.

* nothing kills that taste. Nothing. And if you get nice fresh cactus it is like chewing up really tough old leather gym socks that have gone through 2 NBA seasons. blending it into a smoothie. Freezing it. nothing helps. Awful taste.

Just double-checked and while there is a lethal dose for Psilocybin it is high and the amount in mushrooms is low so accidental overdose is very unlikely.

LSD has no known LD50 and for mescaline it is very high.

It might interest you that the number of psychoactive drugs which are not regulated is larger than the number which are.

Or not.

I d order some papavar somniferum seeds if I wasn t too scared to do it.

there are some of those red and white spotted mushrooms around the horse pasture down the road. I saw them when I helped the fellow water his horses one day. they are not psilocybin tho and they can kill you if you don t cook them with alcohol or something to chemically change, or remove, the poisons they contain. I ve heard that they are a very long lasting and a very unpleasant experience.

I can t remember the name
