It may not be as awful as murdering innocent civilians - or even suspects - but it's like serial killers and family abusers who start out with animals; a huge symptom of what's wrong with our militarized, violent cops.
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.
